and still no mention of coke and hookers ... what's happened to PH??!

It would be good to do something philanthropic, rather than give scholarships to existing establishments I would rather build an academic facility, staff it and then offer places there for full education from Primary through to Uni

And a charity to help animals, boils my piss how people neglect and treat animals badly

Ok a newly inspired one.

Put a billion in cash in a big pile and follow the example of The KLF. If only to achieve the same outcome as the philanthropists would, just with the added bonus of the windup.

Don't think I could be arsed with a yacht, but certainly a helicopter and large enough private jet to get me about.

It would have to be a lifetime of funding hobbies around the globe. A few motorsport teams, nascar, v8 supercars, maybe btcc. I think I would avoid F1 apart from attending a few races per year.

I would also buy Leeds utd, build a state of the art new ground and throw enough money at the facilities to be competitive in the premiership.

Then the usual holidays and cars and modest sized mansion.

Good one. I'm not sure I wouldn't prefer buying Manchester United and steering them to the foot of the Vauxhall Conference. Either really.

I haven't left already because I haven't been a cash billionaire until this thread. Look at all the comments here, hardly a hint of altruism; I'll take my billions where they're needed and appreciated.
Agreed, not much philanthropy in here.

Scholarships for smart kids from disadvantaged backgrounds in this country.

Clean water projects for third world.
Lighten up you two, it's supposed to be a bit of fun.
I highly doubt that if anyone on here was a cash billionaire they wouldn't give money to charity.

How boring would that thread be?
"What would you do with a billion in cash?"
"Help the needy"
"Oh brilliant idea, close the thread"

If it's really that important to you I'd really like to turn that billion into 10s of billions and fight cancer because it's an absolute bh, like many I've lost close ones to it.

But just chill out and have a bit of imagination.
And to think that one of the reasons I'd leave this country is intolerance....

And jealousy, and red tape to stop you having too much fun or using your imagination!

I would want to move somewhere I could do silly things and not have the council coming round with clipboards making sure I have got all the permissions in place to do whatever I am doing on my private property!

I'd recruit and fund a group of mercenary ex special force types with one simple mission. To go into Syria and Iraq and identify and locate the active leadership of ISIS.

When they have done so, and carried out a careful assessment of their defences, security personnel, etc, they would come back here, kidnap Danny Dyer and drop him off with the most bloodthirsty. In a t-shirt stating 'Mo loves the cock'.

Reality is that truly wealthy people I have dealt with tend to work and are engaged in their businesses.

I reported directly to a business leader who was personally worth $7 billion and saw him daily....his interest, his passion was to continually to build the business, seek new opportunities, be creative on the next deal. Sure..had the private plane and so on, but in my experience it was a huge grind to get on the plane because he would have all of the stuff he wanted to follow up on...and if you were in the opposite seat, it was not a comfortable experience. I saw this with a significant number of his counterparts also...a passion for work, not because it was necessary, but because it satisfies the pure drive and adrenalin to keep finding new frontiers.

yes, there is the oligarch class with the $500m boats and so on, but it its by no means a universal approach to managing wealth.
