This time last year I was driving south along the B4009 aiming to get to Newbury through Goring and Streatley. What could possibly go wrong? George Michael had died and fans hoping to catch a glimpse of his house in Goring stopped the traffic on the bridge, that's what.

His house?

Sigh.
You should see the `Shrine` outside his multimillion pound gaff in Highgate.

I wonder why folk left it until the poor chap's dead to go and look at the house?

More sensible to pop by whilst he's still alive, surely. At least they'd be in with a shout for a cup of tea and a biscuit. Slice of cake too perhaps if he'd been to the Co-Op.

I shall be pondering this while I have a beer. St Austell's Proper Job or Timothy Taylor's Landlord?

Decisions, decisions.

Checked my inbox ,Ebay have told me that a BMW 750i V12 is no longer available.

I don't remember even looking at one ,ever.

I did look at old Panda 4x4s last night ,pricing is bizarre ,<1000 up to 6000 pounds.

A hostelry in Norfolk I used to frequent did a lovely drop of draught TT's Landlord, did make me sneeze though.
At least something in there did. Could have been the Guvnor's Old English Sheepdog I suppose.
(that's not another beer by the way, it was a real dog. Bit like the old Dulux one in the adverts).

Up to Derbyshire tomorrow for an ‘annual’. Snow may delay like it has almost every year.

I'm also fairly certain I saw Battert on a delivery bike, long black coat, top hat and Jack boots, certainly sounds like him doesn't it?!?!

More than likely was him making his way to the bakery.

I told him to take the van but he reckoned he was probably still over the limit. Big one last night on the Geranium wine with Mrs Port-Cullis apparently.

More importantly, who persuaded him that driving while pickled was a bad idea? I appreciate it's right but in his day he swore by a snifter or two to keep him alert. With no synchromesh, no indicators and a hand pump for the fuel he had plenty for which to remain alert. No silencer either; used to wake us all up regularly. Dashed inconsiderate it was.

You don't think he's going soft, do you?

No, I don't think he's become judgemental about it. The last time he had a skinful and got in the van he couldn't get the key in the ignition, ended up taking the lock out with a slide hammer and hot-wiring it.
Numerous cuts and burns, I think he's more concerned about having to go to Matron again than anything else.

A friend of mine is in his 60s, he tells the tale of a right bking he got from his wife when he came back from a particularly heavy night out. He was asleep, the gas fire was on, all the burners on the stove were on the back door was open and his van was sat in the vegetable patch running and in gear! He had overshot the end of his drive, got it stuck then left it there.

We could add to the shrine.

Are there any of those really cheap teddy bears there yet? The ones that signify inconsolable loss?
