That's just an anagram of zoom with a silent z.
Where Bomma"s concerned, I'd have thought it was more likely to be BOOM with a (not so) silent B!!

Have you seen the odds on the royal baby being named Shaggy? A tenner on that and we'll be millionaires by Wednesday.

Is it late night at the bookies in Trivwold?

Pushfit,
Have you tried decent oil? Or some/any oil?

Or as a last resort, snake oil? rolleyes

I have found that older engines like such as my 2.8/2.9 V6 Colognes prefer something like Valvoline VR 1 Racing 20w50 mineral oil. The zddp additives are also kinder to the valve train.

Worth a try. smile

The modern synthetics are much too thin and the oil pressure does seem to be unhealthily low when hot, and the zinc & phosphorous content is absent to comply with modern emission requirements.

Operating oil pressure using Mobil 1 = 25 psi hot

Operating oil pressure using Valvoline = 50 psi hot

Edited because I felt it didn't quite scan correctly and I had a slight OCD moment. wobble

Looking into it at the mo and got a sump off to check the mains. That one will take a straight 40W no detergent. The other two like 20-50W.
It’s wear I think. I spent Saturday with two dial gauges in duet and proved I don’t know what cam is in, which is exactly where I was on Friday.

I’m sure I would be a millionaire by now if I hadn’t spent so much time on cars! Or a comedy writer or a renowned bon voyeur. Or a crash test dummy.

If I can help with any workings out Pushfit just shout, one thing you need to be aware of when using dial type indicators is that they are square to and 180degrees to the item you are clocking or you will end up with a false reading, it's known as a triganomic anomaly, a DTI uses a ball bearing on It's face but relies on direct application of resistance to be accurate.

There is that, the max lift needs to be 8 thou more to match the cam it’s supposed to be. Duration matches OK off 16 thou base but the rest is out. It’s on a vernier cam pulley at 108 BTDC and should be 103 which I think is throwing out any measurements which are crank/cam related. Unless it’s a strange cam that should be 108 but I can’t find one that matches. It’s a toss up between engine out to get to the stamping on the end of the cam or change to 103 degrees and try - both are quite involved. Or do nothing of course and have a possibly retarded cam, low power and timing out. But of course it may not be out.
Tuesdays conundrum.

With the old tractor the sump is off and I’ll check the mains and oil pump tonight for the low oil pressure.

Meanwhile weprojectmanagebigjobs.com will have to run itself yeah right.

Allowing for 5degrees off of square on a 103 thou travel there is only a difference of .000366" or less than half a thou, so unless you're DTI is massively out of square on both axis or you have huge lobe wear I'd say that's not the cam you think it is.
ION it's chilly here today, what happened to the nice spring weather?

There's a vitriolic thread in the Lounge. I was going to see if I could help by posting this:

A lesson learnt for an angry old lady

"A lesson learned by an angry old lady," sounds better to my ear. Is there any chance we could start again?

Oh, hang on, we don't know the denouement so we're not sure she did learn the lesson.

"A lesson taught to, but possibly not understood by, an angry old lady." There we go.

Here to help.

smile

But I decided against it.
