Hi All,

Maybe in the wrong forum but I figured this was a more open area.

For my sins I am in Milton Keynes for a week on a training course, as you can imagine this doesn't sound appealing. As I will be alone most nights can anyone suggest ways to amuse myself?

Before anyone mentions I have already considered the tissues and pay per view option.

Kick it up a notch. Hookers and ching.
MK is pretty boring. If youb have RWD there are plenty of roundabouts for drifting practice.

Indoor skiing and indoor skydiving, see whats on at the theatre.
Plenty of other things - but more during the day rather than evening.

I agree with Bobley - what would you do anywhere else?

We've got plenty of green spaces for walking or cycling (check out the red routes, which are completely seperate from the road network), a canal running through the middle of everything, ski slope/cinema/etc for indoor entertainment, shops of any description if you want to spend money. We're a but short on 15th century architecture due to being 50 years old this year, although even then there are a number of villages within MK which aren't exactly new.

Isn't there a big outdoor karting place in MK? Wonder if you can just pay and go of an evening?

Edit: here you go https://www.daytona.co.uk/venues/milton-keynes/

There's a choice of two large cinemas in the area, one in the xscape.

You could catch a game at MK Dons.

Henlow dogs is only half an hour away if you fancy a flutter.

So is cardington if you fancy having a gawp at the whopping big airlander.

Why not team up with some fellow course nomads and go drinking in the hub?

Go for a walk around willen, caldecotte and furzton lakes.

Spend an evening exploring the pubs of stony Stratford.

Mk lightning ice hockey have a home fixture this week if you fancy that.

Or just organise a meetup with some local piston headers smile

To be honest, during a week working out of a (probably travelodge?) hotel in Milton Keynes, your biggest challenge is going to be resisting the temptation to throw yourself off a bridge and end your suffering.

Cross Keys in Woolstone or the Old Swan in Milton Keynes Village (Middleton) if you want decent food in a traditional pub ...

visit the museum at bletchley park: WW2 code breaking, worlds first computer et al. A very historic site!

Also pop over the M1 and go to newport Pagnell and see the old aston factory and modern Aston works. You never know what you'll see on the roads aroudn there. Plus if you ask very, very nicely they might let you into the service department. You'll be very lucky if they do, but it is possible.

If you're doubly keen then onto Olney where there are two aston specialists.

There are quite a number of local PH'ers you could probably convince one of us to come out for an evening hehe

Carrington Arms in Molsoe serves some of the best steak you will ever eat.
Simplyrace are a good bunch
Formula Fast are a good bunch (indoor karting less weather dependent and much cheaper) they do unlimited karting on a Tuesday (tell Ollie Dan who formerly raced the adult champs sent you, he'll look after you)
Daytona, not cheap and outdoor but a cracking circuit
Climbing, both xscape and a proper indoor place
Skiing
Lots of gyms
Some pretty outdoor spaces for walking (Brickhill, Caldecotte, Willen, Campbell Park etc)
Great mountain biking at Brickhill
Plenty of chain food, not always a bad thing
Some none chain food, not easy to find
Bletchley Park
Newport Pagnell the home of Aston Martin (old factory is still there)
MK Museum (yeah really hehe)
Silverstone is 20 mins up the road, extend and go see the motogp

That should cover you for a week smile
