Yes definitely.

My wife’s cousin, passed his test at 34 and his father bought him a car Fiat Punto - think it was about a 14plate, but was pretty immaculate ... he then swapped it a couple of months later for a 2008 Vectra C estate ... couple of months again later for a knackered 2000 318 cab

I questioned him on the logic of essentially giving away a reasonable car for free in exchange for a worse one, he told me that his ‘mates’ treat their cars as a pool (even though their insurance isn’t as such if at all). Ah great I respond, so you can swap the knackered 318 cab for your decent punto again - oh no, that’s not the case, it’s been moved on again

It’s an idiots pursuit.

As an aside he lost his license for drink driving within 12mths so it’s academic in this case now and the police impounded the BMW after ending up on its side on a roundabout in the middle of the night - for clarity he’s a fking retard

Maybe you haven't seen it... but in the undergrowth that is Facebook selling groups and classifieds, you'll often see people advertising their car for sale, but they don't want cash for it, they want to swap with someone - no cash either way. Inevitably, this means that someone loses.

Of course, what the idiots fail to realise/acknowledge, is that everyone loses, as changing cars comes with an inherent cost too.

Yep. I’ve seen those swap ads and I think it’s an attempt to fleece the other person by getting yourself a much better car.
I also wondered if it could circumvent some selling laws by having no exchange of cash but I don’t know so it was just idle wondering

The advertisers have no cash or access to any hence the swap.
If they are truly council then the car will have a log book loan on it, or is running around on stolen wheels and other parts and has become too hot.

There's a new subset of Council which has, I've noted, been growing of late: people with their hood up whilst driving.

Some people have always done it. Scaffolders, for example.
But anyone who chooses to beep, flash or in anyway chastise or remonstrate with a scaffolding truck has serious issues with life preservation. The crews are special breed of non-human monster and should always be given a courteously wide berth.

Then, the practice spread to builders. Generation snowflake has brought with it young people incapable of a day's work. Which means that they are permanently tired before and after their shift, and take to sleeping their life away inside the confines of a hood. Harmless to society though.

Which leaves the new tribe. People in normal cars (or vans) but going about normal lives. But with their hood up. And these folk really are the angriest, scummiest, most disrespectful and aggressive, pus- and hate-filled lesions on society. Hanging, my pedigree chums, is too good for 'em!

No, no. I'm sure the builders just missed that bit when they were putting the roof insulation in. whistle

This is what makes it council. Inevitably it's people trying to move on shabby dogs that they know they'd have great difficulty in selling, but what they don't realise is they will most likely receive a shabby dog in return. Perhaps it's worth the risk just in case they don't.

I remember selling my 2014 Civic, 15k miles, under warranty. Looking for around 10k. Various swap offers received, including for an 80s Escort or something. Who even thinks that someone selling a 2014 Civic would accept that offer?
