This far out, I really wouldn’t worry. There are only about 10 - 15% of the amount of data points to Modell eastlynwesther when compared to our normal south west based flow.

No-one can accurately predict snow beyond 12 - 24 hours.

This will be the way of things, I checked earlier today and they were forecasting 1.5 feet of snow for my area from thurs-sat next week it's now down to 8" for the same period.

We're not on the shores of the great lakes and this is not Pennsylvania, the ramp is strong on this thread, but it's just a bit of fun.

I have never seen people quite so firmly on the fence as the BBC weather forecasters.

I thought this too. Was expecting a scene reminiscent of The Day After Tomorrow with frozen birds on the lawn. But nothing. A very thin frost on the car, but the lawn is green and not frozen. We’ve certainly had colder mornings over the last few days.

My snow shovel, tow rope and gloves in the car are looking sad and redundant.

Another glorious morning round my way. Sunny and not a cloud in the sky.

Kinda sad it’s not gonna stick around now.

The cold isn’t due to arrive till tonight though - should start to get steadily cooler from the east through the day.

Met office has a yellow snow warning across whole of England and Scotland for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Leaving the snow shovel and grit in the shed as not convinced anything will hit my part of London.

I have a very important trip coming up later in the week, Hertfordshire - London - Paris, by rail, on Thursday morning. Do I have need for concern at this stage?

I would certainly be keeping an eye on conditions in Kent. That part of the world gets hit hardest by this setup and might get wallopped by a streamer. A foot of snow is not out of the question, 10cm most likely.

Thursday night in to Friday *might* lead to blizzard conditions. Too far out to be sure. Low pressure coming from the south. Could be a snow to rain event, might include freezing rain, might be just snow. This morning's output suggests just snow, but last night was a real mixed bag.

I understand from what Puggit and others have said that this type of weather is hard to predict, but I check about 3 reports every few hours and they are all different to each other and have all changed since the last time I checked.

Computer models can't cope with this setup. Time to listen to the experts (No, not me)

Must admit that until Puggit raised this thread I only used Netweather for the rain radar. Certainly raised my interest on whites going on and the other stuff. Outside is still below 2deg C at the moment, 5 this time yesterday (wind chill not factored in). However, the bucket of rain water was thawed by this time yesterday and today is still frozen over.

Hi tec eh?

Met office now has weather warnings for snow earlier next week.

Just returned home from an early morning drive around the North London / Hertfordshire lanes. The wind is cutting. Really Really cold.

We've decided not to cancel our Mission Motorsport event at Goodwood on Tuesday.

Though I suspect the blokes driving down in McLaren F1s and P1s and stuff will have a bit of an emotional morning getting there.

Right decision, in my view. The very nature of the snow predicted Mon-Weds is random in nature.

There's a small chance you might need to cancel at the last minute, but Goodwood is not in the sweet spot for a large amount.

Education really is the main driver for my posts in here. The snow threads really got going around the 2010 events, when Schmalex, V8250 (did I get that right?) and myself (all in West Berkshire) found ourselves under a foot of snow a few times in a row. That's what got me learning.

Nothing irritates me more than ignorance. I see experts posting on twitter with reasoned information about where it may or may not snow, and some idiot always replies asking if it will snow in their back garden, when it has been made clear it won't.

I know some of you have learned along the way with me, and I'm grateful for that!
