In fairness I nearly drove into a fallen fir tree in the dead of night once. Didn't see it until last second stuff, and it properly caught me off guard.

We keep getting epic snow showers for about 5-10 minutes and then they pass.
It's built up quite a lot of snow overnight. Low down there's nothing.

Bugger me
Thats a tad breezy
I'm in The Hague (I think the clip in the above video with the guy losing the bicycle and the trams in the background is in The Hague), I was already at work by the time the main winds hit, but there were trees down and bits of branches all over the place. My boss passed an upside down shed in someone's garden on the way to work biggrin Loads of people had to leave early to pick up their kids because the trains weren't running for them to get home from school and apparently the roads were a nightmare.

3 people dead apparently.

The gritter couldn't get up our hill this morning, and our pipes are frozen... so no water.

Bring on the thaw!

Heavy frost and icy, but the sun is up and bright here (not necessarily a good thing as was dazzled driving this morning). Across the fields to the A1 (near the notorious Black Cat roundabout - A14 stretch) I’ve heard blue light sirens for past twenty minutes frown

Hi-Viz on the fallen tree is a good idea for alerting drivers when the light fades. I’ve seen fairy lights used before too I’m sure.

Might be some wet snow for southern-ish areas tomorrow. Don't get excited!

I'm WFH today because I anticipate the roads being blocked - it did a bit overnight but it's meant to be snowing right now and all day and evening - however nothing. The sky is almost black it's so grey, so it must be due....

This mornings estimates put the damage at over €90M to private property in NL.

That's quite a lot considering we are only a small country.
Were you working yesterday morning? If so... how chaotic is ATC when you close an international airport?

We were forecast several hours of snow last night - not a flake.

We were forecast rain/sleet this morning - we have a clear blue sky.

Translation - I looked at my app instead of a real forecast? Only showers around last few days, and showers can be hit or miss.

I looked at the forecast on the BBC. If you can't rely them, who can you rely on...?

Another smattering of snow on the hills. Forecast incorrect again, though some roads out of Buxton were 4x4 only this a.m. Wagons inevitably tried the roads and got stuck, blocking it for everyone else. When will these fools be prosecuted - mind, if they get damaged sliding off on ice I wonder whether their insurance will pay out if they find the road was closed? Most roads were shut overnight. No low lying snow at all, hills above Macc from 4-600 ms got a light covering. highest point in the pic is Shining Tor. View from my office:

Yeah, looks like it could hit +15c in parts of the south next week. Insane temperatures for the middle of Winter.

2016 was similar, quite a few double digit C days.
