Emissions issue diesels
Discussion
So. I have read many reports of owners of the diesels experiencing problems following the software upgrade. Some owners whose cars have been upgraded without their permission are furious with the results.
What about the cars which are now coming out of the factory since the emergence of the problem/scandal? Are they all running OK, and if so how have they been manufactured to avoid problems as opposed to the earlier ones which now seem to be impossible to guarantee proper performance etc.?
I was thinking of moving to a VAG product once our trusty Saab gives up the ghost but now I'm not so sure.

my understanding is the engines affected - the AE189 - are not fitted to new cars anymore. It was in production from 2009 to 2014 (ish)
The newer AE288 engine which replaced the AE189 is not implicated in the scandal - yet
