I’m asking this question on behalf of my partner.

Last year around November, the company my partner worked for was bought out and she was made redundant. At the time the only alternative position she was offered by the new company was in London (we’re based in Bournemouth). She was told the Bournemouth office was being shut down and all 3 positions (my partner, her supervisor and a part timer) were being moved to the main London office. Nobody could up sticks and move to London (and the salary wasn’t worth the commute) so all 3 ladies wound up being let go.

Today she stumbled onto a job advertisement. Her old job at the Bournemouth office (which was supposed to have closed). For more money as well. It seems the new company operated without the office for around 9 months but are now looking to repopulate it.

This sticks in the craw slightly and we were wondering if legally there was anything that could be done?

We generally wait six months at work, so that sounds ok to me.

I think after 6 months it's OK to re-advertise the job position. Perhaps it would be a good idea if she applied for it.
