Just bought these for work ... I'm not massively into shoes. Good/bad? These certainly seem more reserved than the rest of the Melvin and Hamilton range!
Never heard of Melvin & Hamilton. Just checked their website and I agree, many of their shoes are rather avant-garde in their styling! Looking at the photos, they seem like decent enough quality though.I quite like the ones you've posted, nice finish to the leather.
How did you come across the brand?

Just picked myself up a pair of Loake boots - brogue style.
My first real foray into boots. I assume they need a different shoe tree to regular shoes - any suggestions?
I just use my usual Charles Tyrwhitt shoe trees in my boots, which work fine. It is important that you get a nice fit of the trees where the vamp of the shoe/boot is, to flatten out the creases where the shoe bends. The tree doesn't have to fill the boot right to the end of the toes and it doesn't have to fill all the way up the ankle IMO.My first real foray into boots. Always used these before so may just roll with that, see your logic!Toyoda said:

Budget?
Don't have one so try me!. Got to be cheaper than broken bones. I've had a few instances lately where I've nearly gone arse over tit. Usual suspects: Loake, Barker, Cheaney, Church's etc
Charles Tyrwhitt have a shoe range as well. I believe their 'Made in England range' is by Barker.
I'd be avoiding these however:

If you’re a bit more flush you could look at Crockett and Jones, who again have a nice choice with rubber. If you get a good pair they’re great, but check them over for daft finishing problems, which seem to proliferate.
If your budget is around a grand try Edward Green.
A word of warning though, don’t mention the “rubber” thing if Inductionroar is about. He will call you all manner of things and quite possibly call you out for a duel.
