Falafel.

I'm serious. they don't sell falafel which is annoying smile
Our local sells two different types. They usually have them in the chiller with the sandwiches and salads.

There's a new one opening the other side of town as well near the A617. Looks quiet "upmarket"
Where is that?

Avid Aldi convert.

Occasionally visit the local Tesco for the odd item. One thing that drives my crazy now is the checkouts.

SO

BLOODY

SLOW

It's like being in some sort of twilight zone alternative dimension. Do people not have better things to do with their day?

As far as I'm aware they're not compulsory, you can try something else you know.

I mainly stick with the mackerel. Its about 1/3rd of the price of the big names.

I went away last week forgetting to pack any t-shirts. I was in Lidl getting some stuff and picked up 4 t-shirts for £10.00.
They're really nice. They've only been washed once but they haven't shrunk or faded. Time will tell though.

Sounds like a good result, but is there any colours apart from grey?

Can I ask what makes it an awful experience?

Its a budget supermarket, selling the same basics as Tesco, Sainbury etc just cheaper. It doesn't have the range of others but the quality is excellent.
I dont like the layout and the fact that they often run of certain items. I also find it rather bleak inside...oh and the checkouts.

Its definitely cheap and the quality is mostly pretty good.
I agree it being a bit bleak inside. I suspect it depends on where the store is located. The 2 local to me Bracknell / Camberley have been opened up inside previous supermarkets so the refit was no doubt done for cheap. The Lidl's (Crowthorne/Wokingham/Camberly) seem to be purpose built so alot nicer inside and better layouts.

I go with the premise that 85% of items I buy the same each month so I can get these in Aldi, and then anything different I can go to Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsburys which are all close by.

Those ones are probably free. In fact, you get paid to wear them. But you have to wear them 8 hours a day Monday to Friday while putting things on the shelves for £7 an hour.

I think it is the correct compromise.

You can't have higher overheads and also cheap prices, and if you look at those that went before (scruffy Netto for example) it is an improved experience. Better shopping experience than Costco for example.

It does vary by stores though, Aldi prioritises location above actual floor space/car parking available so some are better experiences than others.

I have yet to find a branch of Aldi that stock a decent range of TVR Parts,
but apart from that I reckon they offer excellent quality and value.

And my local branches are very quick to open up additional tills as soon as people start queuing up. They are very efficient and the staff work very hard.

I always shop there for my groceries, bedlinen, guitars, inflatable canoes and ladies underwear.

biggrin Was that the Blackpool branch or the new one in Ebbw Vale?

I believe the Guildford branch may have a limited offer of Special Buys: "Once they're gone, they're gone!" sometime next year?
I shall keep an eye out for that. wink

Most amusing.
I'd wear that one above, couldn't give a fk what other people think, one of the few advantage of being over 50.
