Is there anything ALDI don't sell?
Discussion
All the Aldi and Lidl stores I have ever been in have the same running themes:
1: The queues are always horrific
2: Customers seem to think it is acceptable to open all the special buy and power tool boxes and remove all accessories out of them and presumably steal them, thereby rendering half of the stock of said items useless.
3: Despite all the rave reviews about price and quality, I am not sure that their brand prices are much cheaper and their own brand type stuff is similar to most other supermarket own brands in quality and price.
Given how bad the queues are and the proclivity of the patrons for casual shoplifting, I generally avoid All my personal opinion anyway and based on my experiences of my local stores.

The new Lidl stores have self-serve checkouts which makes a huge difference, and I suspect has had a significant impact on sales.
I have no issues with the queues up here in Scotland. Generally once the line reaches the end of the conveyer belt they open another till. Just hang back and wait for a minute ..LIDL convert here. Wouldn’t have thought it a year ago.
I tend to buy in bulk so go in every few weeks unless I need fresh produce. All meat comes from my mates whose a Butcher, all fish from my other mate, a Fishmonger.
Utterly random stuff in central isles though LOL
Fruit & Veg - no problems so far.
Wine - some good options. Mrs loves the Prosecco me moreso the reds.
For every £100 I tend to leave with an extra 2 bags than I would if at my previous haunts - Sainsburies, Tesco or Morrisons. Generally its 35% cheaper across a bulk of items.
However, local to me I will ONLY shop in one Lidl due to it being brand new and frankly a lovely shopping experience.
Queues ok and they race you thru the checkout

Our local sells two different types. They usually have them in the chiller with the sandwiches and salads.

They sell falafel in my local aldi.
It’s near the pasta salads
Went to Aldi a few hours ago, checked the sandwich bit and nothing (checked labels too incase out of stock) so must vary by store. It’s near the pasta salads
Instead picked up a £20 Milk Warmer/Frother Should come in handy for milk before kids bedtime/my hot chocolates over winter.

I went to an Aldi last week, as I had heard they sell a good value sous vide thingy.
It was like the night of the living dead in there, and despite searching high and low, didn’t have what I was looking for. It was the worst retail environment I have ever seen, almost to the extent they deliberately made it bad to emphasise the cheapness.
At the risk of sounding like a stereotypical PHer, I will stick to Waitrose for convenience (150 ft away) and Tesco delivery for bulk stuff.

Isn't that one of the ways they're able to make their stuff cheaper?jonamv8 said:

I hate Aldi but they built a brand new Lidl local to me in Holmfirth a couple of years ago and that converted me, better than shopping in any of the local Morrison's etc. Drive to a different store 10/15 minutes down the road closer to Huddersfield centre however and it's a much different shopping experience, horrible! They're now building an Aldi about 30 seconds down the road from my local Lidl so maybe that'll convert me also, although I've never been overly impressed with the quality of Aldi.

I was at Lidl Holmfirth yesterday. Friendly staff, although they work 10 hour days with only a 30 minute break, not sure I would be so friendly, They're now building an Aldi about 30 seconds down the road from my local Lidl so maybe that'll convert me also, although I've never been overly impressed with the quality of Aldi.
Superb bread, veggies and meat, milk that is half the price of Sainsbugs and a good range of everything I want and some I just end up buying anyway.
And I agree on the Huddersfield Lidl, similar modern store, same range but hard work.
I think both Aldi and Lidl are crap.
You go to a supermarket to buy everything you need. They both have giant holes in what they stock and you can't do a complete week's shop.
And anywhere that demands a quid stuck in a trolley doesn't get my business because I am above such things.
They're also depressing, cramped and laid out badly.
