Mrs BB is really into cooking from scratch so she asked for one of the Kitchen Aid stand mixers (like they have on Bake Off etc): Crazy money in the shops but decent online deals, probably get her a spa voucher with the savings as a present from the wee ‘uns.

She sent me an e-mail this morning saying there were some headphones she wants on Amazon's Black Friday deal and would I like to buy them for her for Christmas. Sorted smile

This year is different to most, she actually told me what she wanted: A pair of Hunter Wellies. Purchased.

And relax.
If the wellies are for proper use and not just posing they're rubbish, take them back and buy Ariat. Hunter went bust and another company bought the name and the quality has dropped massively. I've got a pair of Hunter wellies that are over 10 years old and still good, wife bought some of the current ones and had to take them back, local tack shop won't stock them.

If you really want to be posh buy her some Dubarry's.
You must be single.
err no, and the post actually mentions my wife. It's an observation based on experience the quality of Hunter wellies has fallen they're more of a fashion brand. Fine if that is what the wearer wants but not much use if they are to be used for walking in the wet.

I bought my wife some Dubarry's which have lasted years and she has bought Ariat wellies that are much better than Hunters, when mine finally wear out I'll buy some Ariat ones.
mmm. I'd be wary of a trap on this...

Nothing.

She told me that we shouldn't get each other anything as we have enough stuff as it is.

I know, I know - that old trap etc. Will see what happens on xmas day...
Riiiigggghhhtttt.............

So what are you buying as your 'back up' gift?
Nope - nothing.

I'm not up for this bs! If we agree that we're not going to get each other anything...then I'm not getting her anything.

Good god, I never like to see a good man down when it could have been prevented...

Buy the back up gift, wrap it and hide it.
If she gets you a present... ta-da!
If she doesn't, then hey, it's all good and you've got the following birthday / Valentine's Day covered. And you've now got a reliable data point on the occasion.

But right now, you're heading into uncharted territory. If it is a test, it would be foolish to be unprepared. There are no downsides to back up gift planning.

It's not due to rain tomorrow, but I've still got an umbrella in the boot of the car.

Please. Buy the back up gift.

Ah, I recognise the sound of a long-serving married man, with all the scars to prove it !

Whilst I very much appreciate the advice, I am going to go with it without. I don't do this bullst of saying one thing and meaning another. If I'm told it's FINE then I get on with it.

I guess it's like training a dog...
