I have no idea currently.

Last year we said we wouldn't get anything really, and save so we could do a weekend away together, ultimately of course we both bought each other presents and we did the long weekend too, ended up in Riga.

Probably the same thing this year will happen...
We've set a small budget for presents from the kids. We're not buying directly for each other as we've just come back from a long weekend away, our first in 2 years since the youngest was born. Our present to each other was also Riga! I'll still be expected to deliver something nice, a surprise and something she really wants from the kids without having a Scooby Doo as to what to get. frown

Just picked up a pair of fleece welly socks with a furry bit on the top in Aldi (£2.99) biggrin

We won't be buying each other much this year, rather the money goes on the kids presents. There will be a few presents from the kids to us such as the above wink

Molton Brown bath and shower stuff is hideously expensive for what it is (I can buy a years worth of shower gel and shampoo for the price of one 300ml MB Shower Gel) but is well received. Online or in the shop they will box it up so it looks posh. It is the home of the £40 candle.

Guys - just try to remember that most women appreciate something that clearly shows that you've put some real effort into the present(s) and that it is something personal/thoughtful etc. I know we all like to joke about it but many women are really not that impressed by some flashy item that could have been bought out of any shop, however expensive it was. If you can try [really hard !] to remember something she said (.........) that she liked then you'll gain far more Brownie points.

I'm glad you clarified, I thought that was some messed up sexual reference for a minute there biggrin

I really haven't a clue this year. Perhaps a painting by one of the artists she likes.
I followed some of the advice from last year on a designer she likes who had a sale before Christmas and bought her a couple of tops she's worn quite a bit but I do feel I'm pushing my luck with clothing.

I have a 'Christmas Shopping' trip booked in a couple of weeks with some old mates but I'd be surprised if we get further than the pub.

I fell for that once. It was dropped into conversation some car mats would be useful to keep her car clean. 2 months later the look of disappointment on her face when she opened a pair of car mats on Christmas morning was mystifying.

I tried to recover the situation by explaining they were "premium mats" and not the cheapo ones. Didn't work.................

I have in mind to give her a supercharger, one that fits the engine in the car I'm restoring. If she doesn't like it, she can always swap it for the socks and dressing gown I've asked her to give me.

A Michael Kors handbag that she dropped a subtle hint about, ie "I'd like a Michael Kors handbag", hehe, some bath/cosmetic stuff that costs too much because it has a fancy label, some nice gin, a cheese board/knife set, and various other bits and bobs like a CD, a book by some poncy chef she likes, etc etc. So far anyway.

I just saw them advertising that giant 4.5kg Toblerone bar that they are selling at Morrisons.

I know this isn't the council thread, but my wife does love a Toblerone.

Alas, at £57, it works out to £1.26/100g when a regular size Toblerone is only around £1/100g and therefore, it is a novelty sized rip off.

A half share in a very small lightweight tent and a sleeping bag.

I kid you not, planning some bikepacking next year. Usually something sparkly from Tiffany so this may not go down well.

i had the booking confirmation come through to a work email while i have a day off. guy who covers my mails etc emailed back asking for a sex swing to be ready and set up for when we get there.

he did tell me what they did.. mrs found it rather amusing too, unfortunately there was no swing on arrival frown

back on topic this is her list...

slipper socks
going out tops
soup maker
gel kit for nails etc
an axe

juice

Molton Brown shower stuff like someone has already mentioned.

She also sent me some links for various make-up bits as she likes that kind of stuff. MAC (very big makeup brand) have dedicated stores and you can book 1 hour makeup tutorial/makeover sessions etc for £60 (not that she needs it) but I plan to book one of those as she has said before that sometimes she doesn’t feel confident in using various products. Also, the £60 it costs, if you want to buy the products that the pro makeup artists has used, you can purchase them against that original £60 cost for the session. Sounds really good to me!

Just be careful that it doesn't sound as if you think she *needs* a makeover !!
