Still, look on the bright side - you're not going to be putting weight on this Christmas. Silver lining and all that. smile

You just know they will open a dispute with ebay stating 'it was a gift and didn't/hasn't arrived! rolleyes
Yup. That's why I spent the extra out of my own pocket to send it 1st Class rather than 2nd Class. yes
Did the item arrive in time and posotive feedback left by the buyer?

I haven't heard a peep back from them yet.

Figures, really.

The moronic council tt who thought it would be a good idea to install bollards on Dickson Road in Blackpool which reduce the usable width of the pavement by a third, to an extent that it is difficult for pedestrians to pass each other, never mind mobility scooters or pushchairs :/

No doubt they cost a lot of money to install, and will cost even more to move following sufficient complaints - all at a time when councils are cutting vital services due to lack of cash frown

I would love to know the thought process of that development! The words Common and Sense obviously did not come together!scratchchin

I have the opposite on my daily commute - a very busy crossroads with 3 lanes and just one lane leading up to it with a mile long queue, it's a complete and utter fk up, but has always been like that. The best bit is it's narrowed by a 20ft wide pavement and a pedestrian island, neither of which are used.

Got myself a fancy pants ultra widescreen monitor. Can't use 90% of my holiday snaps as wallpaper now as they won't crop nicely.

Motorway annoyances:

  • MLMs. Obviously
  • The special breed of MLM you get on 4-lane motorways who sit in lane 3 because there is no middle lane. So I guess their mindset is "one in from the 'fast' (sic) lane" rather than "one out from the 'slow' (sic) lane"
  • Drivers who sit in the inside lane at speeds slower than the lorries go at, which forces lorries to move out into lane 2 to overtake them, thus log-jamming the entire 3-lane motorway as all cars have to now bunch up in lane 3 to pass them both.
  • People who put their fog lights on at the merest hint of mist
  • Conversely, people who don't even put their side lights on in fog
  • MLMs. So annoying it's worth mentioning again.
  • Variable speed limits that bring you down to 40mph with signs saying "incident" and then back up to NSL without seeing any evidence of an incident. If the incident is over, and traffic is not congested, then time to remove the restriction surely?
  • Vans that swerve all over the road as they are using their phone whilst driving.
  • MLMs
I've experienced every one of the above over the past few days, having done quite a few motorway miles on the M3, M4, M25, M11, and M1 whilst visiting various people.

Edit: I confess that I got particularly annoyed with one "Lane 3 sitter" on the M25 and sat behind him flashing my lights somewhat aggressively, for ages, until he finally threw his arms up in a "What? What am I doing wrong FFS?" way. Seriously. Sitting in Lane 3 with Lanes 1 & 2 completely clear, and he didn't know what he was doing wrong. Young guy too - what the hell are they teaching these people in the Driving Test these days?
I then passed him in Lane 4 once it was clear to do so, and then returned to Lane 1.

Forget using the hard shoulder as an extra lane on Smart Motorways - if they want to increase the capacity of motorways they should allow passing on the inside. Instant extra capacity. smile
As a first step why not a vigorous public education programme to teach drivers that they should get over to the left if they are not overtaking? So many times you see a 3-lane motorway reduced to 2-lanes due to MLM's inability / unwillingness to use L1 (even if empty) because "it's the slow lane". It's even worse on 2-lane motorways (e.g. top end of M11) where traffic queues in L2 for miles to overtake a wagon in the far, far distance. You end up with half a dozen wagons per mile in L1 with huge gaps between them and hundreds of cars / vans in L2 crawling past them- FFS get in Lane 1 if you are not actually in the process of overtaking something furious

Isn't MLM-ing an endorseable offence? I suppose it's the usual issue of resources though (... I cannot recall the last time I saw traffic cops patrolling on a motorway)- if only there camera technology could be developed to address st driving other than simply speeding .

Back when the Americans started to get interested in association football (soccer to them) in the 1970s , how we all laughed at their insistence on "stats" and having tables for "assists". What a bunch of idiots!

Now Sky have tables for everything from the above to how many left-handed blonde-haired strikers scored in the opening 20 minutes away from home. Who cares? Americanisation is pants. Literally. Hate them .

I’m glad that you found a glimmer of humour in the post which you part quoted Jim.
I’m probably well off track, but I caught the vaguest whiff of an inferiority complex.
I’m still unsure if he hates Americanisms, or Americans, probably the whole nine yards!

Not my proudest moment, but the thread is about "beyond reason". I just don't like it when we slavishly copy a country who, shall we say, are less than sophisticated.

Oh God. Now you’ve done it.

"Influencer" marketing, especially when it's overly obvious the person is doing it for money / goods / likes rather than being genuinely passionate about the thing they are pimping.

I noticed Amazon actively looking for new influencers recently and keep seeing adverts where companies offer you a product for free (via a refund) if you leave a positive review somewhere.

I'm also sad that Instagram has become a platform for whoring rather than somewhere to showcase photography.
