Wrong - on his 4th voyage he landed in what is now Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panama, all of which are in America.
Wasn't mainland America though
Yes they are.

I had to Google this one after someone mentioned it at the weekend, and it appears to be true.

After 9/11 a combination of fear of flying, and the extra hassle of getting through airports, led to more people driving long distances rather than flying. In the year after 9/11 this resulted in around 1600 extra road deaths in the US, or a further 50% on top of those killed on 9/11.

Thanks! I've been on it. In a straight line between my house and Moscow, the highest point...is my house.
It's a fact! nuts

It isn’t. Your house isn’t between your house and Moscow, once you leave your house and travel towards Moscow that’s what’s in between. Possibly.

Aluminum was the name chosen by Humphry Davy for the element, he was British. Most Americans used Aluminium throughout the 19th century although -um gained popularity and in 1925 the American Chemical Society adopted -um in preference to our -ium.

Personally, I hate the way aluminum sounds but it makes perfect sense (see platinum, molybdenum etc).
Hmm, that isn't the version I was taught.

Humphrey Davies originally named Al Alumium, then he renamed it Aluminum, the Americans stuck with that and he then finally settled on Aluminum.

Either way, the Americans call it neither the original nor the finally decided name so are entirely wrong on this one.

They’re not though. It makes perfect sense that it’s called Aluminum given the name of the oxide is alumina not aluminia. I would never of course say that in front an American.

Yes they are.
When Ayauasca said it was not the mainland, my guess is that he meant not the U.S.A., which is as we know America, but Russian Troll Bot is technically right about Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panama being part of the American mainland, as it’s all the American Continent, from the top of Cape Columbia, N.W. Territory, Canada, to Cape Horn, Chile, or Tierra Del Fuego.

Mexican hens eggs always have white shells.
all hens eggs are made white. The pigment is only applied to the surface just before they are ejected.
bit like cars on a conveyor belt only getting painted just before they leave the factory.

That's why if you get the egg just as its produced by the hen you can have a go at rubbing the pigment off. smile
White chickens......white eggs
Brown chickens......brown eggs

Mexico has mostly white chickens. In fact, the US until recently had almost all white eggs and brown ones were mostly free range which the Americans did not buy into. Over the last 10 years US eggs have been shifting to brown.

My dad mentioned a while ago that eggs were mostly white when he was a kid, but brown eggs were thought to be healthier (like brown bread I assume) so became more prevalent.

Hey, it is me who says they are on the American mainland, and Russian TB who maintains that they are not.
