Just remembered I door drafted Rodney Marsh out the gents at Wembley a couple of years ago.

I didn't touch him though, or shake his hand, it didn't seem appropriate.
I blame him for costing us (Manchester City) the league title in 1972.

Early nineties and I had arranged to meet the wife in Cheltenham at lunch time. She had our five year old with her and as usual I was running late so when I got to the cafe she had already been there for twenty minutes or so.
Anyway she was sitting at a table with another couple who had a little lad around the same age as ours.
I recognised the bloke straightaway as his band were one of my favourites from the eighties, my missus was totally oblivious to who it was!
Apparently when she got to the cafe there were no spare tables but the other couple had said to the waitress that she could share their table.
There they were all happily chatting away having a laugh and the two kids were playing around with some toy cars.
I sat down opposite the bloke totally gobsmacked, he could see by the way my jaw was banging on the table that I recognised him. He started a conversation about the weather and asked me what I did etc.
Really nice people with no pomposity just enjoying a midday bite to eat and coffee.
Anyway after about fifteen minutes other people have started asking for autographs and wanting a chat so he leans across too me says cheers, shakes my hand and leaves.
My wife is still totally oblivious and wonders what all the fuss is about!
Gary Kemp from Spandau Ballet. What a great bloke and he picked up the bill!

Eric cantona took my pen to sign a load of autographs at a game and our hands briefly touched. I’ve shook hands with Paul Daniels when I welcomed him to our event and also been on stage with the chuckle brothers.

Not as good as My wife though, who has shaken hands with her maj, no less. hehe

Probably Jonny Wilkinson or Natalie Imbruglia.

Tackled Jonny during a match and bumped into Natalie by accident.

Then in Yorkshire a lot of sports people like Leslie Vinicolo, Rob Burrows, Iestyn Harris, Eirik Bakke and a load of others

Almost all through work, outside of work then probably,Stig Blomqvist, Hannu Mikkola, Barry Williams (Whizzo)

One person: probably the 6th duke of windsor when he came to our RNR unit.

A colleague was on a business class flight to myanmar with the dalai lama but failed to get up the gall to speak to him. Ive read a couple of his (DL) books and would not have been so shy, opportunity wasted imo.

Eta: those saying they touched the queen should read the title.

Boy George in the DJ era. Mates auntie used to work for a record company. So he used to get us on club guest lists.
Watched him DJ several times.

Sir Ranulph fiennes, recently when he did an evening talking about his life. Absolute legend.

Recent death of a celebrity sportsman got me thinking after reading this thread.
During the late 70s, early 80's, whilst a member of the Boys Brigade, I met and accepted my Duke of Edinburgh's bronze award from Cyril Regis.
Have also met and shook hands with Ron Atkinson (again via Boys Brigade) and the Duke of Edinburgh and the Queen herself whilst collecting my Gold award at Buck Palace.
Also, Gary Numan, numerous times as he is my personal music hero,
Julie Goodyear, (Bet Lynch) and Jasper Carrott (Robert Davis) I used to underwrite there insurances on cars, foreign holiday homes in a previous life, I know Jasper quite well on a personal basis, have even stood at the bar having a drink with him in a pub in Solihull numerous times.
Nice bloke but does have a short temper..., Julie Goodyear is lovely.

When I was a youth, snogged Sporty Spice a couple of times when they were all living together in a house in Widnes. Been flattened by Jonathan Davis and Martin Offiah (and every other bd in the Widnes rugby league squad, but you’ve probably heard of those two) on the rugby training field around the same time. Had a pint with George Best in an airport pub (he bought me a Guinness, he demolished a bottle of white wine). He was dead a couple of weeks later. Did the ‘cheers’ thing using a prawn cracker each with Brian Lara in a pub just off the Edgware Road. And Prince Naseem Hamed punched me onto my arse in the boxing ring in Sheffield boys gym smile

He should be so lucky, lucky, lucky lucky.
She’s lovely, but she snores. I found it really annoying.
