Back in the 80’s Lee Mac Donald who played Zammo and Michelle Gayle who played Fiona in Grange Hill were fronting the just say no campaign and visiting schools. Met Michelle afterwards and we chatted for ages, seemed to get on really well and told me to write to her at the beeb-never did.

Met Troy corser at Gatwick when he was riding for BMW. Nice chap. Didn’t know at the time but he apparently lives,or lived, around 20mins from where I work and a few guys who I work with have seen him in the local

Met Keith flint at a Porsche do around 6yrs ago. I raced bikes a few years previous and a guy who I raced against became his teammate when he raced endurance for a couple of years. Was walking around when I bumped into them both!
All the talk was bike racing and what a throughly nice and decent bloke Keith is. No mention of music or ‘I’m a superstar’ or anything. Spoke to my wife and gave her a hug and kiss afterwards.

Stood on Courtney Walsh’s foot in a Taunton nightclub. Tall bugger. In my haste to apologise and get out of his way, my lightly inebriated state meant I managed to bump into just about the whole West Indies team. Howzat!

My great uncle was Lord Shinwell, former Labour MP, cabinet minister, party chairman and then a peer. I was about 23 when he died, and the family went to a memorial service in the Lords. There were more famous people there, of course, but those were the ones I shook hands with that I can recall. Mrs Thatcher was shorter than I expected, but had an astounding presence.

I can't say I agree with much of his politics, although he was opposed to the EEC (yay, Brexit content).

He accepted a life peerage although he was offered a hereditary peerage, as one of his sons was a bit of a scoundrel and had (IIRC) spent some time inside for fraud.

Amusingly, Luciana Berger MP claims to be his great-niece. She isn't. We're related, but I've never met her. I know my mum's emailed her to, um, clarify the family tree but she's not responded.

His nephew, Sir Adrian Shinwell, was former chief executive of the Conservative party in Scotland. He didn't answer my email to say hi either smile
It's very possible you are related to my old history teacher...

Oh, I'd forgotten I've met him, a couple of times. I've got a photo of him standing next to my car.

I'm sure there was someone more famous I'd met, but I don't really go to the kind of places where these people are. And when I do, I can't think of anything worthwhile to say so there's not much point going any closer.

The first three at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe after their Two Old Farts in the Night show, the next two at the Watford Palace Theater after a recording of I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue, and the last at the Cosmic Comedy Club in Hammersmith.

Probably Jonny Wilkinson or Natalie Imbruglia.

Tackled Jonny during a match and bumped into Natalie by accident.
She must have a habit of doing that. I was leaving Bondi beach and saw this woman careening towards me not looking. I stopped and she slammed straight into me.

My most famous. Bowie loads of times.

This sort of embellishment appears rife in Politics.

There's a MEP (Former UKIP member and UKIP Supporter) who publicly claims to have founded my company and run our sister company. We did employ her.....as a tele sales girl.
