I want to hope they're really good! I think I've read that they do put on quite a show.

Tough, isn't it, there's the whole "never meet your heroes" thing. When I was a nipper, I went to see Sister Sledge (Chic-Lite biggrin) and I'm sure I enjoyed it, but as much as I have all the time in the world for Mr Rodgers and what he's done and achieved, I watch the NYE gig and thought it was a pale imitation of what I remember.

Keep us posted!

Can't think of Sparks nowadays without a really messed up mix of Beat the Clock entering my head that was played at a Hackney rave at 7am in the mid 90s. confusedhehe

As in the Sparks?

I have Propenda & Kimono My House Cassettes from the 70s.

The extended version of "Number one song in Heaven" is one of my favourite driving songs. Recent-ish reviews I've read say they put on a great show, enjoy.

It wasn't bad from my seat smile I think the room we were in wasn't designed to move sound around very well.

Just a great band and writers of some of the wittiest lyrics ever. I still have Propaganda and Kimono My House on original vinyl.

This Town.... really captured me as a young boy, in fact it probably determined my future musical taste, as the excitement in the song really grabbed me at the time...
Still love that tune now......

Also available on eight track.
It's what I think when I always remember my cassette of Kimono My House.

Wow, what a brilliant gig. They were amazing, Even Ron cracked a smile, and got up from the keyboards and had a dance.

I thought the roof was going to come off when they did No 1 Song In Heaven, followed by This Town Ain't Big enough.

Jesus, they're 69 & 72. I was shattered this morning, Christ knows how they do it.

Glad you enjoyed the gig, I saw them the first time around & have always had a soft spot for them & have a few of their albums that still get played. No-one quite like them IMO.

There was a radio prog on during the last week, they were talking about their life and musical influences. Didn't hear all of it but was interesting. Wasn't a Sparks fan at all in their heyday.

My dad had quite odd taste in music as i was growing up, especially during the 70,s,i would be subject to Offenbach, then Chopin next day, then Tangerine dream and Jean Michelle Jarre, next day Beethoven, bit of Liberace and then a Sparks album turned up, really caught my imagination, it was the album with them standing beside an aeroplane?
Always remembered the track Pineapple, stuck in my head! :-) It always surprised me my father never touched a drug in his life, some of his albums would suggest otherwise....

Indiscreet.

Not their best. Some the tracks would seem to suggest that they deliberately trying to get the sack from their record company.
