Back to the original point though - I am wondering if it will ever get to the point where excessive height is classed as a disability in the same way people with dwarfism are classified under the Equalities Act.

When my back is causing pain and mobility issues, I'd love to be able to park in a disabled bay to swing the door wide open, and slowly extricate myself from the car, and be close to the shop entrance.
Or have special dispensation on flights for example. It is after all a physical characteristic that can impair my abilities, and has inherent health issues associated with it.

Given how the blue badge and benefit system is seemingly abused by the council-ista and their various kids with various "labels" and the morbidly obese, it's only a matter of time for tall people surely?!

Maybe I need to get on Twitter and start a petition or something...

From the women I know I'm not sure it makes much difference. Maybe taller is slightly better but hot/ugly, social skills and success are vastly more important. It certainly seems to be true that women can specify no short guys but if a man put no fat chicks in a dating profile he'd be in the daily mail with a pitchfork mob outside in no time.

For life in general there are lots of downsides to being tall:
  • It's harder to look jacked or get really strong without getting steroid/heart attack massive.
  • Tallness (and the consequent heaviness) is a handicap for many of the sports I enjoy (climbing, skiing etc).
  • You can always take clothes up a bit but you can't stretch them longer.
  • Cars, trains, planes, furniture, doors, buildings, anything you care to mention is designed around people about 5'10" or shorter.
I'm 6'4" and I wouldn't change that but I don't think the short guys get that bad of a deal..

Most of the proper Body Builders in the gym are fairly short, is it because they have shorter limbs so its easier or is there some compensating going on, cant get taller so will go with wider ?

True most jacked guys who’s physiques look great especially on pictures are nearly all around the 5,8 5,9 Range as you say they have shorter limbs which is easier to pack mass on. They still get a complex though when someone tall stands next to them lol.
Touching on what others have said about women and there ridiculous views on height it’s true especially in work when you get a group of women together they are like animals slagging men off about everything. Our new manager is about 5ft8 on a good day and I have heard them all taking the piss out of his height. He is also a little overweight with a pot Belly and they were slating him over it despite the fact most of them are overweight themselves.
The thing I find most distorted though is the majority of women base how Alpha and tough a guy is based on his height and physique which couldn’t be any further from the truth. The toughest guy I have ever known was 5ft9 and about 11 stone but most women thought he was a wimp simply based on looks alone.

I find both tall men and women gangly and some how "not cobbled together right" plus they look worse naked.
Yes, those supermodels are just not attractive. And Victoria's Secret catwalk girls look terrible naked, hence the need for fancy knickers.

Silly me I forgot all tall women are supermodels and Victorias Secret girls not gangly lurch like lumbering behemoths smile Weird designer cloths look better on stick thin tall girls apparently and underwear models are normal height as it goes...maybe

A bit of both at my gym. Nothing wrong with that I suppose, people want to look good and if you're short then why not make the most of it and get built?

I knew a girl at uni who had a policy of only dating blokes several inches taller than her. As she was about 6'1" this meant she mostly only ever dated members of the basket ball team biggrin

Some girls don't seem to like being taller than their partners. I knew my wife years for years before we dated, her previous boyfriend was shorter than her, and she never used to wear heels. Now she quite often wears boots that bring her up to about my height.

5'10 is the average height of men in the UK, so 5'8 or 9 isn't that far off.

The toughest guy I know is 5'6, but built like brick sthouse and a Krav Maga expert (that's expert level, not just an expert in it)... also one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. In my experience, "acting" tough guys are rarely actually capable of fighting where as those who are capable tend to be the first to back down or de-escalate.

When my dad came out of the Parachute Regiment he was 5'6 and weighed 9 stone 4lbs, but was definitely double-hard.

He's always maintained that the ones to watch in a fight are the quiet ones. The loud "alpha" blokes with a lot of gob can usually be ignored, it's the quiet serious looking fellas that you need to keep an eye on.

The loudest man in the room is usually the weakest. (Unless it's Connor McGregor)

My brother is below average, at 5'8". He does have a complex about it but would never admit it. Does MMA, ex Royal Marine, personal trainer etc. He has always tried to make up for his shortness!

Strange that my younger brother is the tallest and the eldest is the shortest.

I have a mate who is 6'7" and he said he would want to be 6'0" but then he is Dutch so pretty normal for him!

As has been already stated, only 15% of men are taller than 6ft and only 3% of men are 6ft2 and above. Go on any kind of dating website and the majority of women state that the man must be 6ft and above because "I like to wear heels"

I am 6ft, my girlfriend is 5ft 4 yet when I met one of her friends the first thing she said was "Oh, you are not as tall as I thought you would be"

I used Tinder for a while and a few times after we had agreed to meet, the woman would ask me how tall I was. I would reply 5ft 6 just to see their response and every time I would give it a couple of minutes to see their reaction and every time they would not respond until I replied "Only joking 6ft".

Add in the millions of other things women have on their online dating checklist and it is no wonder the majority never leave.

Not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but short guys can have any car they like. (You can always add a booster cushion or something. wink)

It's different if you're too tall though. Tough luck. No MX5s. No TVRs. No Caymans. No Caterhams. No Evoras. Definitely no Italian exotica.

It makes car shopping a very disappointing and frustrating experience. Short men might feel a bit unlucky, but tall petrolheads are tortured.

How tall are we talking?

At 6' 3" I never had any trouble in most of those? Peter Wheeler was a giant so all TVRs seemed to have plenty of room. Evora seemed to have plenty of room. Even the Caterham can be sorted if you get an SV.

who really cares.

im 6.3, 6.4 in my heels, but am a bit of a pussy probably, not that anyone's ever started on me or i've been in a fight situation, or one where i needed to intervene or anything.

It is often the case that the little guy is tough as nails, but thats a symptom of his height many short blokes have that chip on there shoulder about it and compensate by being muscle men or hard or just general cocks attitude wise. That said, there are many more who aren't - You get wkers in all heights.

Re. women on tinder its usually the giant ones themselves as they feel self conscious.

Personally i'm not attracted to really short woman is as the height differential is just too silly. (in attracted i mean having a serious relationship)

My mate is getting married to a girl who is technically a midget. Hes 5.8/9 id say, shes the max official height you can be to be classed as midget or dwarf (assume midget as shes in proportion) 4ft something i think. Different strokes...but he is a primary school teacher too so it could be considered creepy!

Anyway being short can be lucrative, we hired a midget in Vegas for may m8s stag a couple of years ago and took it to a pool party. It cost $125 for each of us (there were 6 of us) and that got us 3 hours with it. It came to a pool party with us, so got free entry to that, used our prime poolside day bed, and drank fair chunk of our booze tab, and got to hang out with us which was priceless. its not all bad...

edit. not
