ETA. Strongman is a different matter although not many people aspire to their body image anymore.

The fact Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of the few successful bodybuilders who was tall is also why he is still regarded by many to have the greatest physique of all time. Yes by today’s standards he wasn’t that big and he had crap legs but being his height and having that physique looks far more asthetically pleasing than all these 5ft8 inflated juice heads that look fat and dumpy with clothes on because they have so much mass on a short limbed frame. Arnold’s arms always looked amazing because he has longer arms than most bodybuilders.

who wants to look like these freaks?!

Virtually no one but judging by the amount we spend on gyms collectively a variation of the above is more desirable than being fat.

When my dad came out of the Parachute Regiment he was 5'6 and weighed 9 stone 4lbs, but was definitely double-hard.

He's always maintained that the ones to watch in a fight are the quiet ones. The loud "alpha" blokes with a lot of gob can usually be ignored, it's the quiet serious looking fellas that you need to keep an eye on.
Indeed - like this chap who was a (US) para too.....

Are we absolutely certain about that height? Someone whose entire self worth is based around their size is probably going to exaggerate that measurement too. He's probably 4ft 10.

And I've never really understood height equalling 'hardness'.

Come on you fk*rs, whose first outside?

(I'm not really angry, just misunderstood)

One advantage I do have is that I fit most Italian supercars.

It does seem that height is something people have no qualms in making fun of. That said amongst blokes anything goes really, weight, height, features. We're all b*stards to each other really.

What surprised me was a Facebook female 'friend' shared a post which said, "What do you call a man under 6ft? Friend" which I thought was pretty harsh. Mainly as if a bloke had shared something referencing a woman's weight, boobs etc they'd have been hunted down!

Audie Murphy was also short. 5'5" as far as I can find on the internet. Won the Medal of Honour and a whole clutch of other gallantry medals too.

I had a great uncle who fought in Burma during the war. He was 5’2” and said he never complained about his height after his patrol were opened up on by a Japanese machine gun nest and the two chaps next to him died from a rake of fire that went over his head.

Later in the war he was dropped into the Netherlands to help facilitate the placing of German soldiers into canals. He said being a foot shorter than the average local made it feel harder to move about in daytime without drawing unwanted attention.

It's not yet illegal to offend or be offended, the way things are going it's quite possibly only a matter of time.

Indeed, a trip to celebheights.com will show the discrepancy between claimed height and actual size.
Hollywood and the NFL are often accused of exaggerating dimensions for image and financial reasons.

An outgoing engineer in my place of work,is 5 foot 2
I am 6 foot 1

He calls me his bodyguard

When he walks past good mates, he pipes up with " not so small now am I " all jokingly I should add.
