Went to bed after 1am, got hit at 2.30. Dog went bananas, wife still sleeping on sofa downstairs with dog. #hanging

Big storm last night in West Berks. I got an early night and in spite of being an incredibly heavy sleeper it woke me up. Incredible lightning! Now a lovely, calm morning.
The lightning really was superb and wonderfully fresh this morning. Did you see the two Aston DB4's at The Bladebone yesterday?

Do I have a stalker? wink

I bloody did though. Lots of tasty metal there! Only went for a run up and down the road but loads of nice metal was out yesterday.

It is 'murking' over again (here in East Berks) but I don't think their is enough energy in the atmosphere today. Saying that blitzortung is showing a nice storm over Norfolk at the moment.

We had a fantastic show last night. First was driving from Wales to Tidworth, 8 TIL 9.30 massive lightning display all the way.
Then about 1am another big storm woke us up, constant thunder, no gaps between it, flash after flash after flash for about an hour. Then around 1.40 it all went crazy.

A really big flash accompanied by the biggest loudest roar of thunder ever. Power went out, house alarm went off, both car alarms also.

Took out the main breaker switch in the house.

Got power back on and killed the alarms.

This morning on checking, sky Q box is fried, Sky router is dead, telephone base unit is fried, no broadband, no telephone line signal. Sky micro filter is burnt out, plug bank fuses gone pop.

New router ordered, now sky Q box ordered, new answer phone and base units purchased. New mincrofilter fitted.

Still no broadband or phone line working.

However, my heart is still beating, noise of that one clap of thunder was so scary I thought I might pop a valve or something. Never heard anything like it. Even guns and tanks firing isn’t that loud.

Sounds like your house took a hit. Either the sky dish or TV aerial maybe?

I bring no joy. Weather is turning worse, with the Atlantic getting in charge - and not from a warm direction.

Small amount of hope beginning to appear around 10 days away, but that could easily be flushed away.

But the media have promised me a 10 day 'Beauty from the East' heatwave in May.

Weather apps don't look too horrific for the weekend? (Hopefully... As I'm camping in the Lakes at the weekend.)

From what I can see - weather will be better in the north than the south...

As for the Beauty from the East. If you read the Mirror, you get what you deserve.

Cheers. That'll really piss the wife off, she's staying home with the kids. hehe

I felt quite cold in bed last night.
So cold that I actually went downstairs and filled a hot water bottle.
