So England is going to get a scorcher next week, what about Brittany? Much of the same?

Yep - and if the high is centered over the UK, then the winds to Brittany will be travelling over the continent - bone dry!

(Anticyclone high pressure, winds travel clockwise).

woohoo Heatwave!

Bets on what happens first. Motorway melts or the train tracks bend?

Always the tracks.

Image below of a tweet someone sent out comparing the chart for 28 June 1976 to 28 June 2018. Similarities are staggering. Of course, weather is globally driven, so differences elsewhere will cause changes to mean it won't be 1976-like in the long run.

Brief dip in temps Thurs/Fri. And then the heat buids.

And builds.

And builds.

And maybe a bit more building....

Low 30s likely far and wide by mid week next week. Mid 30s possible later...

This could make rowing 90 miles a slightly warm experience...

There had better be more snow this winter to compensate for all this heatwave nonsense.

Wrong way around. This heat is related to the same weather patterns that caused last winter's snow wink

Awww yisss.

Just in time for when I go back to work full time! Still, better than the alternative. Plus I like hearing the moany sods in the office moaning about the heat while I'm absolutely loving it. cool

Perhaps a small wobble today, but only in terms of temps. The heatwave is nailed on, but we may be pushing up to 30 degrees instead of 35. I think most would agree that's preferred!

Aaaaand we've wobbled back. Winds are showing with a more SErly direction next week instead of Easterly. This brings a more continental flow, and so more warmth.

Back above 30 degrees next week.

Up in the NW we've had almost nothing now for a couple of months and I was wondering the same thing. Given the length of time we've been without rain I'd have expected mutterings about droughts by now.

However all the reservoirs look full still - for example those visible from the M62 such as Scammonden.

I love the hot weather BUT when you are in an office surrounded by workstations all with Dual monitors pumping out enough heat to warm a family home and no airco its not fun, Im sitting here in shorts and a T with my fan going full tilt and it must be circa 30c. Next week will be fun!!! cool

Wobble down again. A far more palatable high 20s looking likely next week.
