Are you talking about dogs in coats and jumpers?
>nods<
Small dogs in coats was a thing when I was a lad - significantly more than 20 years ago. I agree it's 'kin stupid though.

I have 3 dogs; 2 small terriers (related) and a French Bulldog.

Frenchies have a very fine layer of fur, she does get cold, she shivers as does my smallest terrier; the other terrier doesn't get particularly cold though, he does have thicker fur and he's not a pussy!

All 3 have jumpers, I'm not that keen on them as I think it's more psychological on my wife's part plus they get dirty, muddy and when it rains, heavier and wet, if it's just me walking them I tend not to put them in their jumpers as once running around they soon warm up anyway, plus they look a bit stupid.

I think it's more of a fashion type thing than anything else TBH.

Fifty years ago my father and uncle trained greyhounds. I seem to remember the dogs wearing coats when walked.

A lesson that I, truly, have learnt. Actually, I haven't, but I'm trying my hardest hehe

I will often ask questions on a forum if I feel that others may benefit or be interested in the answer.

Our mini smooth dachshunds have very short coats and they do shiver once the temp gets below about 16 degrees if they’re stood about. So they wear coats. As they have such short legs their undersides get dirty quickly so it also helps avoid that.
I drew the line at boots though and had to show the YouTube compilation to point out how stupid it would have been.

In case anyone has a few eye rolls to get rid of.

That YouTube video is genuinely one of the funniest things that I've ever seen, it's bloody hilarious.

Our mini smooth dachshund is the same always shivering, so she wears a coat.

Joe Cocker. Obviously a legend and I could listen to him all day.

He had that performance at Woodstock where he was very famously completely bonced off on acid, during the whole thing he did all that weird st with his hands which is a side effect of tripping (I may know of this from personal experience).

Now, after that, every performance he did he always did that weird stuff with his hands, it's very distinctive and frankly if you can sing like him you can do whatever you bloody well like.
But was it affectation? Was he doing it because he so publicly did it at Woodstock when he was off his nut and needed to give the impression that it was his normal mode?

As you can probably guess I haven't got much else to think about tonight.

A later clip of Joe being an absolute god:

Lol! On re-watching that vid he seems to be properly coked up, and doing that hand st is definitely a side effect of coke (I may also know this from personal experience)

i'm trying to think of a scene in a tv show.. i wonder if anyone knows which one it is and what episode?

i'm 100% sure it's a cartoon sitcom (family guy, american dad, simpsons, futurama etc).

basically there's an art critic/teacher who looks at a painting and says 'marrrvelous', then looks at another and says the same thing. basically everything they look at (even stuff that's objectively crap) he thinks is amazing.

No, I don'k think so, he just did odd stuff with his hands - a physical manifestation of his feelings for the music. If he was on acid during that song it can't have been very good. The few times I've done a tab I couldn't string a sentence together let alone stand in front of thousands and sing. Urban legend?

I thought it was pretty accepted that he was tripping at Woodstock.
Although irrelevant in the long run with a performance that good.

Bentley. That's a great name for a car. Is it a great name because it's a great car, or is the name part of what made the car great?. Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, all the great cars have great names is that co-incidence? Ford is a great name at the other end of the scale, Hillman, Sunbeam, Humber, are the names contributors the companies' demise?
Would Rolls have been as good tied up with e.g. McTavish, did the alliteration help?

I think it works exactly the other way round.

It always seemed to me that he was playing air BASS guitar, finger style, if you know what I mean. Was he ever a bass player in a band?

I don't know, I think he does air bass and air piano as well. The whole soundtrack of Woodstock is brilliant.

3 years ago. I damaged my hand tendons. I had an operation which means I have stitches inside forever. When it's REALLY cold. My hand aches in that area. My other hand doesn't get it anywhere near as bad.

Why?

Agreed, they are just names. There is no reason why Rolls Royce sounds expensive and luxurious other than that's what they are known for. If they made tractors you wouldn't give it a second thought.

A good example would be Range Rover Vs Rover. One is a luxury successful brand, one is a defunct brand that used to make average saloon cars.
