What would happen if an immovable object was hit by an unstoppable force?
The immovable object moves and the unstoppable force stops.
Surely the unstoppable force is deflected by an angle of less than 90-degrees?

By definition, the two things cannot co-exist.

If an unstoppable force is indeed unstoppable, it would move any object, such as the immovable object, and the object would therefore cease to be immovable.

Similarly if an immovable object were to be hit by an unstoppable force, if it were truly immovable then it would stop the force, therefore the force would cease to be unstoppable.

Why do some lorry tractor units have a small set of wheels between the main steering and driving wheels? I can’t tell what purpose they serve.

Lift axles

As soon as we add an extra axle to a truck we are adding more weight, more rubber on the ground and moving more parts, increasing fuel consumption and wear. When a truck is empty or part-loaded then it doesn't legally need all three axles, so trucks can be specified with a ‘lift axle'. This simply means that using hydraulics, the whole extra axle can be lifted off the ground and kept that way whilst driving. Lift axles can be places in between the two main - normal axles. These are called midlift axles. Put an axle behind the main drive axle and it becomes a ‘rear lift'. The application and weight distribution will determine whether a mid- or rear- lift axle is most appropriate.

From here which has explanation on other configurations.

People do things on autopilot all the time. However when it comes to overriding your instinctive reaction, that takes a great deal of conscious thought. Even if you deliberately tried to stick a razor in your eye, your body will instinctively recoil, that reaction is built into our psyche at the most basic level.

BTW, Tourettes is involuntary motor or phonic tics (mostly motor tics), people with Tourettes aren't acting out conscious thoughts. Coprolalia is the involuntary and repeated use of profanity (I'm pretty sure that I get this in the presence of some people)
Interesting you say autopilot, someone’s I’d be driving on the motorway listening to music, and I’d drive for say 5 miles and not remember how I got there, If you know what I mean

I go swimming quite often. Normally at least 3 times a week.

Does spending 3+hrs a week in chlorinated water ward off colds/bugs generally? Are you less likely to get ill?

The chlorine only neutralises the outer layer of all the 'bits and bobs' you swallow hehe

Why do the armies of dictatorships march with such an unnatural step.... goose stepping etc?

Armies of democratic countries march with a natural step.

Whats with the funky marching style, and does either have any advantage? I would think that the odd styles need higher levels of fitness.

Those are parade marches so by definition are supposed to show off how unnaturally awesome and diciplinedyou are.

More practically marching is a way of moving a ton of people in an ordered way, I can't imagine even the Kaiser's finest goose stepped to the lines. Bunch of Germans with all sorts of march here:

Compare our wierd foot movements here:

And some russians who don't look very crisp:

As I recall, it was us (the British) who actually invented the goose step. We also invented the Concentration Camp.

I wish I could send my daughter to one. She's bloody useless if there's any distractions about.

Why do the older generation ( lets term that as people who are well retired ) Dress smartly to do the gardening? We're talking going round with an edging tool, trimming stuff back, full lawn mower. Dressed in shirt and Tie, trousers, even a jacket in the full height of summer.

Or is it just me being a bit council and wearing old t-shirt and jeans?

Maybe that's how they dress and wearing a five year old suit is like us keeping a knackered pair of jeans for doing the painting.

I've a book of WWII photos full of young people dressed like old people!

Well, quite. I think how "old people" dress is merely how they have always dressed.

Maybe because they are are a link back to a time when people who did physical and dirty jobs also dressed smartly. Back in the day steam train drivers, bricklayers and hod carriers etc wore jackets, waistcoats, shirts, ties and hats to work. Whether they had more respect (or even turned up!) back then I don't know.

Why do black people get the K and the S the wrong way round in words?
I went to see a doctor the other day and he kept telling me to call at the front decks and axe the receptionist for some tets results.
