The promos have started up for the new Nvidia graphics cards ahead of the launch next week. This video is real time raytracing with the Unreal engine of the Porsche Speedster concept https://youtu.be/Z85aPqqJzs0

The cards will very probably be called 2080, not 1180 https://www.techradar.com/news/nvidia-teases-gefor...

Been waiting and waiting for these.

Still waiting until June next year for the Ti in all probability.

Word on the street is that both the RTX 2080 and the RTX 2080 Ti will be announced tomorrow, and both available quite soon.

If the jump in real world performance (and not just one, very specific thing) is big then I'll almost certainly get one, if not then I'll just get a cut price 1080 Ti instead.

It's being reported, with specs and pictures of the cards, in several places now:
  • Tom's Hardware and Forbes both reporting what looks like a pre-release reveal mistake by PNY
  • VideoCardz appears to be 80% of their stories at the moment
  • Wccftech rounding up much of the above into one place

I wonder what sort of reduction the current range will get.

Also probably be a few deals to be had on eBay as people upgrade.

You're optimistic - I expect these new cards to be positioned above the 1080, and prices for existing 10xx cards won't move much (after all, they still have stocks of cards that they won't want to lose money on).

Would suspect the same.

Post the miner craze pushing prices up the lack of competition means they could easily keep prices high and rrp's of new kit higher still.
My 770 is probably staying for a while.

Some prices have leaked - whether they're genuine or not I don't know, but they're about what I expected:

2080 - $750
2080Ti - $1250

Be interesting to see how much they are this side of the pond. £600 is palatable enough IMO.

It will be £ for $, especially given the exchange rate at the moment.

That would make a 2080Ti more expensive than a Titan Xp! eek

Yep, I'll be sticking with my 1080Ti for the foreseeable, I thought that if the cost to change was ~£150 to a 1180Ti/2080Ti I may well do it but not a chance of that with those prices!

2080Ti confirmed at $999, so still hard to swallow at £999, if pound for dollar is true.

And is still only £150 cheaper than a Titan Xp.

I did quite well out of the whole mining thing, sold an RX480 for a profit and beat a local lad down on a second hand 1080ti before they became popular. I was quite interested when this came out but the prices are crazy. Won't be upgrading any time soon but will watch YouTube with interest to see what the performance difference is.

One thing to add on the Nvidia prices - these are binned GPUs - the ones that can be overclocked more, so they're going to be more expensive. The prices from the keynote were:

2070 - from $499
2080 - from $600
2080Ti - from $999

Expected an increase in price, but in some cases >60%. Go fk yourself for that money Nvidia.

Some of the AIB models are over £1300!
