Big freeze is on. We have half melted snow freezing. It will be lethal soon.
I was thinking the same thing. Roads were slippery at about 6:30 when I got home. Fun start to the day tomorrow!
Just got back from a walk with the dog (Maidenhead) and the slush is now crispy.

Going to be lethal in the morning on untreated roads.

Complete chaos on the roads this evening, so gave up and wandered down to the pub near work for dinner hehe

After a couple of hours the traffic cleared enough for me to let Waze take me down the quiet backroads that everyone else was avoiding. Glad I jumped in the right car this morning, I had a fun drive back biggrin

The tiniest of dusting overnight here (Wales, a few miles west of the far end of the M4). Settled on the patio table and lid of the (cold, empty) hot tub, and a little bit has managed to survive on the lawn...
Probably not enough to cause [tabloid] traffic chaos [/tabloid], even with the drivers around here wink

Cold but dry in north Essex, although it looks like we might get a miniscule flurry later this morning.

Currently -3.7 in Chesterfield. No snow but very icy, I've heard wheels spinning and vehicles sliding several times this morning; I hope the ice has gone before the students start arriving, my car is parked on the road. irked

Very pretty and white down here on the south coast, white enough to get the kids over-excited, but it's just a frost. hehe

About 7cm last night in Luxurybourg with more expected today
We're all on winter tyres, and the roads were cleared during the night, so today's commute was no more eventful than any other clear day. smile

Similar hear (South Warwickshire) thinking I may have to clear the windscreen, or just leave a little later and let the sunshine do it.

We are SO close to getting some wonderful charts... BUT... the polar vortex that sits over Greenland/NE Canada and helps to drive the jet stream is stubbornly sitting there as usual, sending energy in to the Atlantic. This is preventing the Azores high shifting north and joining with high pressure in the Arctic to create a northerly block and northerly winds.

Irritating for snow and cold lovers.

All our local schools (Bucks/Oxon border) are closed today, which is crazy. It isn't that bad.

Very light settled dusting between St Neots and Cambridge, but other than that it's just grey and damp outside.

Local online rag in Reading was trumpeting "Overnight snow in Reading - full list of school closures here!".

1) It didn't snow overnight - only in the late afternoon.
2) No schools are closed.

Some fine journalism there.

At least there is some communication. When I was a kid snow days were communicated via a black board outside the school gate.

I walked to school from about 7 or 8 years old, therefore, you'd get to school, be told to bugger off, walk back home and find yourself locked out as your parents were at work smile

They are now clinging on to the fact there were closures in Bucks.
