Waiting for a McNair shirt to be made after being measured up for it a couple of weeks ago. Not a winter coat but they do some nice stuff there too.

Just bought one of these a few weeks ago for winter casual. I do look cool as fk in it. I'm delighted to see that they've now reduced it!

For colder nights I'll stick with my Buffalo.
Nice... link please

Fjallraven winter Greenland is a great jacket but not that waterproof or very warm. Waxing it is a pain and does spoil the look. I bought a Holubar deer hunter last year and is excellent but is very warm maybe too warm.

So

Thanks for that. Now someone else has got one I can start the self justification that I need one even more.

I fancy the midnight merino.

How was your fitting experience?

I’ve got a new mac for work: https://www.johnlewis.com/kin-water-resistant-rain...

And a new ski jacket which was a bit of a bargain at £60: https://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/brand/tog-24/hawes...

Oddly enough I was looking online for that sort of style and "wool" type shirt without heading too much into "check pattern lumberjack" territory.

Any suggestions as different brands seem to use different names for the style?

Shame McNair insist on having that bloody tag/logo on the shoulders.

Looks a bit better here

Having lived in South Shields (and now within a stone's throw from the factory) all my life I really should have had a Barbour before now. I'm now converted, they're fantastic quality.

Splashed out and bought two new winter coats last week as it happens.

Bought a charcoal colour wool coat for work and for evenings out etc. Was a very reasonable £189 from Moss.

And for casual wear, bought a Hugo Boss quilted jacket, which is water repellent and well insulated. £369.

I've just bought one of these as an autumn item.

Like it.

Tasteful.

Musto make some great coats/jackets.

My shooting coat is Musto and it’s one of the best items of quality clothing I’ve ever had.

Very good so far. They stayed open late one night for me and waited nearly an hour for me as I was delayed due to an accident (it's the middle of nowhere). Spent as long as I needed going through the different styles, colours and fabric choices and then was measured up for a made to measure Moleskin shirt, one of the longer ones. The lady couldn't have been any more helpful, great experience. When you go and pick your shirt up they either provide breakfast in the artisan bakery downstairs or offer you some craft ale from the brewery in the next unit along. They aren't cheap but the quality is fantastic from what I can see, never had anything made to measure before.

Should be ready in the next couple of weeks.

Id really like to get myself a winter coat/jacket.

but i want something thats

- lightweight
- comfy
- doesnt restrict movement
- is relatively thin, or can be compacted into a small form and stuffed into a bag.
£70 max.

i really don't care about it looking smart, pretty, as long as it's highly practical, comfy. and doesn't look like
- i should be participating in winter sports
- isn't multicoloured.

New Moose Knuckles and a leather jacket from Levis.

Too warm for Moose Knuckles at the moment thankfully but the Levis jacket is just the ticket at the moment.

I went for this a month or so ago.

Berghaus Maitland Goretex.

Only needed an outer jacket as I have a Berghaus fleece which will zip inside this for the odd chilly days we have over here.

Brilliant. Nothing entices me more than a story and great service.

Be very interested to hear how it is when it arrives.

This isn’t helping.

They have them in Fortnum and Mason and I’m in London this week...

As a larger gent I’m hoping I fit straight into an xxl but might need a custom.

'Pop up shop' at the factory for the next 2 Saturdays I think, if you're anywhere near Slaithwaite (Slough-it).

Thankfully I’m 160 miles away and that’s keeping my £350 safe.

For now.
