When you consider how many cars (and bikes) he owns it's nice to know the Espada gets some serious use on these long trips. Harry's mention of the electric power steering he had fitted reminded me I took these on the firm's stand at the NEC last year, I couldn't take my eyes off it, it's just the right side of bonkers...





I sometimes wish Lamborghini would revisit the concept but it would probably turn out to be much bigger, taller and fatter. There's a RHD Series 3 for sale at the moment, it's ex-Cheshire Classic Cars stock I believe, who've recently gone into administration. Asking price is £85-90k, if I was brave enough I'd find a way to fund it..!

I have had my Espada for 25 years now. I agree with what Harry says. They are odd cars but have something special about them. Peak torque is at 5000prm and the cars settle into a groove at that engine spped and crusie very happily at 100mph. Before cameras and over zealous plice i used to cruise at that speed. It left plenty for overtaking.
Next spring i am hoping to go to Cannes from Glasgow with family. It isnt a modern luxary car and has compromises. In particualr 16-17mpg on long trips.
It is great seeing Harry champion these old cars. He has done more than most to raise awereness and appreciation of them.
He now just has to buy a Khamsin!

It must only be 3 or 4 years back I was sitting in a very nice Australian delivered Espada that was about 35kAUD. I half considered swapping my 928 in but was scared of bills and garage space. Damn.

Always had a soft spot for the Espada. In fact ever since being a boy in the 70's when one appeared in my Dad's shop car park. It had the number plate '2 FAR'. My Dad recorded it for me in my Observers book of cars, which I still have!

Around ten years when I was living and working on the Isle of Man I had reason to visit some bloke who wanted to put an average conservatory on the back of his average house in an average housing estate. The property had had an unusually large garage added it and I had to ask why. I was somewhat taken aback when the old fella opened the garage up to reveal two mint condition Espadas.

I mean, even Edd China would struggle...there are some proper structural challenges there which would require the services of a blow torch.

That's some find - a RHD SII, let's hope some brave soul manages to save it. As bad as that scuttle panel and roof are, I'd like to think it is definitely salvageable.
