What I don't understand is why my phone won't work yet my business partner who is 3 metres away from me, his phone is working.
Both O2 but different phones.

999 calls are not affected
I had no service at all, as in no signal, that takes out all calls.

It's been mildly irritating at most I'd say today for me, couldn't find a route using Waze as it decided to stop working and I've had to use texts rather than WhatsApp. That said both texts and voice calls were unavaible for a good few hours too.

All not big deals though.

Surely you still have a map available - or do you only use Waze ?

Does anyone have any idea of when they will restore services, or is it like asking how long a piece of string is?
Yep, O2 say no idea on a timescale.

Pretty mental how much we rely on it.

I hope the emergency services have roaming networks, or don't use O2..!
Hopped in the car this morning and heard on news that O2 data was down. My first though was 'and why is this news!'

30 mins later, parked at station, walking towards train and attempted to pay my daily car park on my app as per every day........ ahhhhh ******!!!!
I was in exactly the same boat. I had to WALK to the pay machine and actually call the phone number and missed my train. Thats claim for compensation right? I was 15 minutes late to my first meeting of the morning! rofl

It was down in Guildford and London, and just learnt its UK wide apparently.

Unfortunately OH is on O2 and all her phones are locked so cant do wifi calling, if she could then this wouldnt be an issue.

Wifi calling refuses to work on my phone (S7 Edge), and the old better solution that also did texts was removed, so I get nothing at all.

No signal at all in GU8, voice went a few hours ago.

After a week in Dubai with no 4g, or voicemail and O2 CS not giving a st, I'll be switching networks at the next opportunity after about 20 years with them.

I was a bit surprised at just how crappy their CS had got, but then I saw that their new UK CEO was the CFO and previously worked for NTL, so has the combo of the most godawful service known to man, plus a bean counter mindset.

I just used Google maps, I had a couple of destinations pre saved on waze so like I said mildly irritating that's all.

Some of the comments on the Giffgaff forum are hilarious.

Anyone would think WW3 had just been declared.
Same on Twitter with discussion threads on it going into meltdown. Loads of demands for compensation.....
I saw one this morning that made me laugh (paraphrasing as follows):

"My Google Maps doesn't work and I have to drive up north this morning. How am I supposed to get there?!" Dave, London.

I don't know Dave, in fact, before Google Maps everyone just stayed in f-ing doors as far as I remember. How about a f-ing map you specimen!

No, not unless you are in an area where there is no signal from any of the networks.
Just because the signal meter on your phone is showing 0 doesn't mean the phone can't connect to another provider and make a 999 call.

Is there a way we can blame it on Brexit?

Or Trump?

It must be the fault of one of those.
