Just reading Last Of The Few.

I’m with you Slopey. I smell a bit musty having not been to work proper for 3 weeks but I’m here. You will be too.

Daytime sleeping and daytime TV has become so routine I feel I can look Bobbers in the eye now.
That made me chuckle! hehe Wicked Pushfit! nono

Hi folks, I'm back! wavey
I've just been to the most disappointing AGM of the year so far.
No shouting or bawling, no fisticuffs or brawling, no hint of mayhem or dissent.
How boring is that?
The existing committee stood down and were all then duly re-elected again and the club accounts were accepted with no hint of discord. No accusations of embezzlement or underhand dodgy dealings.
By way of compensation, they supplied a nice hotpot supper to go with the beer, so it wasn't too bad.
And we made our plans to put the world to rights over the next 12 months.
All is well within the hallowed circle that is the local classic vehicle club.

Our next jolly runout will commence next Wednesday morning after a hearty breakfast. lick

Sorry to hear they've chopped of one of your parts, Slopes.
I do hope it's a part you no longer use or need.

Rest assured that whoever has retained that part in a jar of preservative will now have something to amuse his mates and their guests at their next medical student party, so it won't have been sacrificed in vain.

As I said, fingers crossed for you, young fella. Think yourself lucky you haven't got a white plastic cone round your neck like Pushfit to stop yourself biting your bits.

You won’t put it down it’s an amazing account in the words of those who took part.
They just accepted being shot down in the morning and up again in the afternoon. Stirring stuff.

I've been doing a bit of research.

Eric Bell developed that sound. He was trying to replicate Irish Pipes on an electric guitar.

I've just been approached by a work colleague who asked if I could run him home after work, he lives not too far from me, he said he'd locked his keys in his car, cue me thinking he was taking the micky as I'd left mine at home, but no, he put his keys on the back seat of his Merc while picking something off the floor of the car, leant on the keys which triggered the locking mech and as he exited the car he pushed the door shut without thinking, so now I have to run him home and back so he can get his spare keys!!!

yes Blowing down the fingerboard and squeezing the soundbox was highly Innovative at that time.
Now everybody's at it.

scratchchin "Hang on!" you say.
"An electric guitar doesn't have a soundbox!"

Well, that's the drugs for you. wink

I was pleased I looked it up because I read the lyrics for the first time. It always mystified me why a captive pharaoh could be at large with his money. Particularly in the Karkunkari Mountains. I'd never heard of them but imagined them to be somewhere exotic. Like America.

Seems the disruption to his routine by taking a day off has had a slight negative affect on the new improved Straight Bobbers memory bank functions.
Perhaps he should try turning it off and back on again. Yes, that's the key.

Or he could save all that backtracking by keeping his keys and pass card in his locker. wobble

Youthful appearance? Thanks. thumbup I don't look a day over 107! bowtie
I have said it before, young Bobbers, and I'll say it again:

The trouble with retirement is, you never get a bloody day off!!!

That's quite possibly the first time I've seen the words "Exotic" and "America" used in the same sentence!!!

biglaugh Funny, I always assumed that the Karkunkari Mountains were somewhere in the Antipodes and that "Molly" was an Irish emigrée, possibly related to that Billy Boyle mentioned in the Jolly Swagman song.
I never really understood why an Egyptian ruler was imprisoned and sent to Australia.
It seemed to me a tad anachronistic because the hulk transports of convicts occurred a long time after the.Pharaonic dynasties had faded into history.

Every day's a schoolday. teacher

But I always admired Eric Bell's achievements at Le Mans. What a driver! driving
Well done, Dinger!

I was on the road to my destination. That must be the reason (that I didn't need the station).
