Is there much engineering to be done when relocating a dog?
Beat me to to it. A what?
Hahaha is it not as obvious as I thought or is a whoosh parrot needed?

I'm a dog walker.... getmecoat
Ah you mean an obligated canine perambulator?
Off topic, but does it actually pay a reasonable amount? There are quite a few round here, can't see there are that many dogs that need walking

A friend who works for the Ambulance Service has her dog professionally walked once a day, five days of the week. Costs £25 an hour, the walker takes four dogs at a time.

Damn, that's pricey. Is it in central London?

Our dog walker takes 6 max at £15 but she's normally out for at least a couple of hours with them. Our dog has a better social life than we do.

Bringing this back for 2020.

I'm looking for some new boots, fancy a pair of AKU Pilgrims from Trekkit in Hereford so i can live out my SAS fantasy in the Lulworth cove car park. HAs anyone got any experience with AKU boots?

I've got a pair of Scarpa boots, not sure the model but a vibram sole from about 8-9 years ago.

Used reasonably regularly, particularly in the last 3-4years on pre longed walks, regular half hour walks with the dog, and also working in the garden/garage as well.

They have been very good, comfortable and hard wearing. The padding on the tongue is just starting to go, as is a small area of sticking where I tend to scuff one boot against the other.

If they current range is anything like as good I would buy again in a heart beat.

Partner as a pair of Solomans I bought her four years ago, the top layer on an area of a lighter material on the sides is starting to go, but they are still comfortable and used reguarly.

I believe Salomon boots are now made by Adidas and they don't seem as durable as they used to be.
I was in our local outdoor shop which was taken over by Blacks last year. The girl in the footwear department is one of the original shop staff and very knowledgeable. Salomon boots fit me a lot better than most, but she suggested that I have a look at the Aku boots when they come into stock next month. She reckoned they're quite good.

I'd put brasher considerably below Merrell based on longevity.

I have a heavy Berghaus for winter and lighter Merrells for summer. I still have Brashers but shoes, light use plus pub/town only.

ETA

I can't see 4 season boots ever being satisfactory.

I had AKUs a few years ago when they were new to the UK, and liked them. Unfortunately once established in the market they doubled their prices.

Also had good experiences with Altbergs (from Whalley Warm & Dry) and Zamberlan. Brashers used to be good but quality declined when they started to manufacture outside UK.

Didnt know that, I have the Quest 3 GTX boots and they seem to last well, although I havent put mega miles into them but I am heavy footed and do wear trainers out quickly so be interested to see how they last long term.

I love them, but they fall apart quickly..did 200 miles in a pair of Parkclaw shoes and they had spit the fabric where your toes are. I'd avoid personally.

Really rate my Scarpa Cristallo GTX that I bought 4 years ago. Comfy, waterproof & light weight (1400g). Not a mark on them after quite a decent amount of use. Not sure what the equivalent is in the current range.

I had some more traditional Zamberlan's before. Very heavy (2200g), never again.

Bought some Mammut boots to replace my ancient pre-Sports Direct Karrimor KSB 300 boots, done a few ten to fifteen mile mountain walks in them so far, and have been pretty impressed. Still using the Karrimors as well, although they are in need of a re-sole.

SAS fantasy in the Lulworth Cove car park? Are these for serious use or just to protect from mud in a muddy car park?

The best boots to buy are the ones that fit you.

The ones to avoid are the ones that don’t.

Not forgetting that corrects socks are also important.
