This makes me sad. I was lured into a false sense of security over Easter. Shame on me for believing.

After the cold but quite dry and sunny weekend, unsettled next week. Lots of Atlantic driven 'April showers' type weather.
Damn. Any rough ideas about Saturday 11th? I'm supposed to be going to Vmax that day, really really hoping it's not going to rain.

Good stuff. The grass is already starting to brown slightly and I don’t fancy spending all spring watering like a man possessed!

Thunder watch towards the end of the week. Normally we get thunder when cold air pushes warm air out of the way. Guess what? wink

Dammit. For once that doesn't make me happy.

Christ I hope it gets here on Saturday. I really don't want to be thunderstormed/showered out of Vmax.

Definitely a rumble or two of thunder here in north Bristol just now. Exciting.

Is it just me or has this year been incredibly dry? I feel like its barely rained, the ground is rock hard (New Forest)

I'd love to know how this year compares to the average. Anyone able to help?

Pugs posted a view of river flows and reservoir capacities on the first page, and all seemed alright to me from there.

Agreed. We were commenting, only last night, on hard and cracked our paddock is.

We have a Nordic fir in our front garden that the tips have started to turn brown on - decided to give it a few buckets of water on Sunday and the ground soaked them up faster than I have ever seen before - no pooling at all, even on the 5th bucket!

Should be some rain over the weekend, thanks to being stuck under a trough. Then likely the high pressure returns...

It was a mere whiff below being stinking hot here today (East Berks and also Reading).

Horrible.

High pressure to the east, low pressure to west, we're stuck somewhere in the middle.

So nice-ish weather, but threat of showers from the west. No clear signal for next weekend, so assume the same.
