Holding grudges with people on PH
Discussion
Having read PH for years before joining I find in particular that there are a certain couple of groups of posters that like to band together to antagonize singular contributors in every thread they can find them posting in. Either that or they are the same person with various usernames.
It's pretty sad to watch them either ganging up or logging in with other profiles to hammer their point home. Must be very bored people although sometimes you do see an OP start a thread and really drop themselves straight in the deep end.

I'm sure there was a case where a PHer reported another PHer to his employer because of something he posted online. There's one thing to grumble and fight online, but to take it into real life is a whole other level.
That is very weird. However I used to visit a forum and my employer visited the peak district and got talking to a cyclist at a cafe. My employer mentioned that I love bikes etc and it turned out they both knew me (I say 'know' he'd met me once). Anyway he said 'keep an eye on him he's on that forum all day long posting st' etc etc).
I could evidence that I posted from my phone breaks, lunch and after work but it created alot of anxiety. Soo much so that I walked away from that forum and left the job a year later as the questions asked turned me sour to the role. I never said anything to him, just moved on. There was Abit of irony later but I won't post that.
I met some great friends from that forum but away from forum fun and jibes there were some very odd, creepy and sinister types of people. 'you slight me and I'll get you.'
On here I can't remember a gripe or particular poster to avoid. Just get on move on.

I had the situation of someone who told my employer that I was posting during office hours, I knew the woman involved and had previously turned down a request to take her to dinner, she also gave me her mobile number and asked for mine - I turned her down, she sent me a facebook friends request and I declined it, plus a few other similar things. She thought she would take revenge by trying to get me into trouble at work.Do you think I hold a grudge?

For my part, I've been banned from a couple of threads on here recently.
I'm not sure if it's over zealous moderating or if I have a cyber-stalker.
If it's the latter, I'm flattered
Forums are too busy for mods to single people out, I’d have thought. If you’ve been banned from a thread someone / several people will have pressed the report button on your post(s), mods will have reviewed, and taken the view that you’re disrupting the flow of the thread and it would be better if you weren’t contributing to it... I’m sure you may have a different view. I'm not sure if it's over zealous moderating or if I have a cyber-stalker.

I would imagine most people dislike me on here, and I accept that.
Mainly because I often am fervent in a view and will post unpopular opinions, my faves being how crap F1 is and how I don't like Marc Marquez or think Sam Lowes crashes too much! But he really does.
It's all a bit of fun, it is a persona and nothing like my real character.
Don't know why it developed that way, but being honest I have been banned from numerous forums for stirring things up. Not by swearing or being nasty as people are to me, but by simply arguing a point. Some mods take a dim view of it. Especially if they know you and have the power (like people who wear hi viz tabards seem to seek) and will warn or ban you for nothing just to get rid of you. on trumped up charges as happened on a forum last year.
But on here, unless you are abusive things tick along fine. And long may it continue. I prefer forums to social media, can have more of a debate.
And the knowledge on here is very useful

It does surprise me that people can be so volatile on here. Not everyone has to agree with things but it's baffling how things get turned around on posters. Also never understood the need to be so rude sometimes. The way some people speak to people on here, in real life they wouldn't have got too far being so quick to be unpleasant.

I doubt I'll ever stop thinking Welshbeef is a tw*t but that's only because of all the things he says.
Welshy’s alright but it does depend on whether he’s been drinking or not. Some right shyte when he’s had a few.
Not aware of anyone on here that holds a grudge against me, and I certainly don't hold a grudge against anyone on here either. Don't think I'm a prolific enough poster for a start.
As has been said elsewhere, it's all usernames and fairly impersonal.
But I am aware that certain posters appear to rub others up the wrong way and there does seem to be an undercurrent of simmering resentment running through certain threads.
