The very epitome of a poor driver. Overtaking, changing lanes, pushing in, roaring away at the lights, presumably to gain ground, but to no useful effect.
Are you sure PistonHeads is the right website for you?

Are you one of those drivers who flashes their lights furiously after someone overtakes you perfectly safely?
TBF - his reply was to mine where the overtaking wasn't safe. I was doing 30mph in a 30 zone and was overtaken. It's 30mph for a reason of safety.

Mariah Carey’s stupid face on Walkers crisp packets.

Why?

Is it unreasonable to refuse to buy Walkers?

SWMBO says I am being childish. I disagree.

But that’s because I stand Carey or that stupid stty Christmas racket of hers!!!
Mariah Carey must be pretty desperate for cash to allow it.

How the mighty have fallen.
Or its easy money for her.
You'll notice that Mariah isn't even in the same filming session as anyone else in those adverts, all the shots of her don't feature anyone else, any shot with anyone else is just a stand-in "over the shoulder" type shot, or a close up of a hand.

I was told she got $9m for the job but if that's so surely it must include the Lay's brand that Walkers gets called everywhere else?

Yes. It's about drivers who dodge in and out and in reality make no ground.

Rubberneckers...

If you're so desperate to see a mangled car wreckage then go to your local banger meet not slow down to snails pace to have a gawp at whats happening on the other carriageway of the motorway to then continue at normal speed straight after... rage

Once I've been slowed down by the person in front, in turn slowed down by the person in front of them, and so on for 2,000 cars or whatever, I might as well have a look?

People who tailgate when you're doing 30mph in a 30mph zone.

I think there is a misconception that people who tailgate want you to go faster. I have been tailgated and when I got an opportunity to accelerate they didn’t speed up. I believe its lazy driving, they can’t be bothered to look at the speedo to monitor/maintain their speed so they just follow the car in front, but they do it too closely. In other words tailgaters are useless tts who need exterminating.

Maybe, but you are adding to the problems.

Are you sure this is the right site for you ? Surely you don't believe that it's necessarily unsafe to go faster than the posted speed limit, which has been determined by consideration of worst-case situation ?

Maybe driving isn't for you if you find it acceptable to overtake someone doing the posted speed limit.

Oh come on. Has it really come to this? Has "PistonHeads: Speed Matters" really become "Dadsnet: Nanny Knows Best"?

There are many instances where speed limits have been artificially lowered for no good reason. Most of Hampshire and Berkshire seems to be 40mph these days, including the fantastic Pirbright Bends over near Ash Vale which is a glorious B-road that was NSL for decades and now has been emaciated with 40mph, and even 30mph, limits with not a house in sight.

Has the joy of driving really been so successfully sucked out of most people?

Try reading what I wrote. Nothing about "acceptable"; I referred to safety.

"The Bends" is notorious for ambition-exceeds-ability morons departing the road surface and mixing it with mature trees in the adjoining woodland for no apparent reason, though. Including a number of fatalities. Try riding it on a bicycle, you'll see just how many crash sites there are, littered with shattered plastic trim and headlights, etc. In fact, since the limit was cut, it's a far nicer, safer route on a bicycle. And if you pick the right time, it's still possible to drive it at NSL+... wink

Yes because theres no point in breaking the limit, you can have fun at the limit. What makes your journey so important to overtake a car travelling 30 in a 30? It's those attitudes that have worn down opinions on motoring and accelerated the restrictions that are now in place.

Exactly. There is a time and a place. yes

If one size did fit all 24/7 we wouldn't need variable speed limits on smart motorways.

What about someone doing 30mph on an NSL road? I've been flashed for daring to overtake even then, on an arrow straight road with nothing coming the other way.

(Admittedly, being passed by a Sagaris on full chat is probably fairly unsettling)

That's a totally different scenario. 30 in a 60 is not 30 in a 30.

Being overtaken by a tvr will be unsettling, it's not every day you get to see one that can pull off an overtake

You can drive at 30 in a 30 and still be driving like a moron. As we all know, there is more to good driving than just the MPH.

Joy of driving?
I’m on the right site, as there’s a bunch of other things here for me, but joy
of driving is a totally alien concept, and has been since circa 1988 for me.
