Your user name speaks volumes Jimo.
It actually comes from the first time I worked in an office with members of the opposite sex. Where I discovered a slimjim was a er, purse sized ladies pleasure item.Though I am also slim.

And while they're repainting arrows, I wish they'd paint them far enough back from the junction so they aren't normally obscured by cars waiting at the junction - they aren't much use if by the time you can actually see them it's too late to change lane
I wish they'd put the lane arrows up on posts, as they do in countries where the arrows on the road surface might often be obscured by snow.Lily the Pink said:

Whilst I see your point, we already have way too many signs on posts.A better solution is just to paint two sets of arrows; one in the traditional place and another set further back.
Today I'm annoyed (again) about the poor quality of grammar on "memes", and the fact that anyone can create them without having to be able to write properly. This morning I've seen "Share if you think that nurses deserve a high [sic] salary than politicians", and apparently "Tommy found guilty by a corrupt Judiciary. Watch the Police draw battens [sic]!". Presumably the Police are helping Tommy, whoever he is, to put a new roof on his shed.
That reminds me, must prune a few Facebook links.

These idiots that place their mobile phones face down on the desk. Presumably they either think they're more interesting than they are and that people might be interested in what's displaying on their phone, or they're trying to hide notifications from suspect apps such as Grindr.
Or simply could be trying to give you their undivided attention.Phones on the desk do not annoy me so much, it's people who think they're too important to put their phones on silent.

With many phones, putting them face down puts them into "Do Not Disturb" mode which rejects all calls and silences all notifications. So, basically, you are annoyed beyond reason that someone is being courteous and giving you their undivided attention and doesn't want to be distracted by their phone whilst they talk to you.

It wouldn't even occur to me to think about which way up I put my phone. It's screen is off when I'm not using it away so it doesn't make any difference which way up it is Am I missing something here?

Maybe you have nothing to hide or perhaps you're well aware that people aren't actually interested in what's on your phone?I think that it's a bit paranoid to think that just because someone puts their phone face down, they're trying to hide something... If I were doing that all I have to do is press the off button, or better yet, keep it in my pocket.

But what's your phone showing when you're not using it? Mine's just a black screen so not that different from the back of the phone.
On some phones, putting it face down rejects all calls.Personally, I always have my phone on silent / DnD when in an office environment anyway.

I read there are moves to ban personal mobiles at work due to distraction on company time. The article quoted two companies that insist that employees leave their phone at the door. Good idea?
Does that mean I can leave my company mobile at the door when I leave in the evening.Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
