As the title says, which hot or warm hatch do you drive and how old/young are you?

I'd imagine the days of hot hatches being affordable for kids are well behind us.

My nephew (17) got an insurance quote on mine and his quote was £5600. eek That's on top of the >£40k purchase price.

No wonder we're all old farts in this thread.

What would you consider “old” for a hot/warm hatch as compared to the past where younger people were driving hot hatches ?

It was unaffordable when I was 17 (1996). £5K for a Citroen Saxo VTS. 0-60 in circa 8 secs. I wouldn’t mind betting it’s easier for a young person to get a car as quick as one of those now than it was then (albeit, it wont be the range topper anymore).

Wasn't Citroen doing 1 year of free insurance at the time, did it apply to the VTS?

No only the VTR. I believe the lesser models were sometimes offered with 2 years.

In, 1999 i got 2 years free insurance when i bought my Saxo VTR although you had to be 21 and over to qualify and 25+(i think) to qualify for the Saxo VTS.

Bonus was that at the end of the 2 years Direct line i think it was, ended up giving me 65% no claims bonus for not having any claims hehe

Forgot to add with out the 2 years free insurance as a 21 year old the insurance would have been £1,900 for the year as i had 2 insurance claims against me at the time.
