I agree with this one. It’s only the imperial measures that are part of our language to mean more than just the pure measurement that makes me hesitate a bit - eg pint means beer in some contexts - “anyone fancy a .568 of a litre?” is never going to sound right.
So why not pop to the pub for a cheeky litre instead? smile

People who think that Brexit was a mistake and consider the EU to be so great EU should probably move to a country that is a member and stop pissing and moaning in the UK.

Is that unpopular?
That would be great if it wasn't for the fact that Brexit has removed the ability for people to easily move to another EU country.

I agree with an earlier poster who said that people are looking at the short term, when in reality it's a long term thing. It very much is, and so in my opinion people over 60 should have been excluded from the vote, and the lower age reduced to 16, so that those most affected would be the one's making the decision.

And of course that's nothing to do with the belligerence of the EU, then.

Or you could exclude everyone under 25, or maybe 35, from voting altogether because youngsters know the far end of feck all about pretty much everything. They just don't know that they don't know and only come to learn how little they knew when they get older.

It has zero to do with belligerence of the EU, and everything to do with the fact that one of the key selling points behind the push for Brexit was specifically to remove the ability to move freely between countries. It's what Brexiteers wanted, or did they think that it would only prevent foreigners from coming here and still allow Brits to move wherever they want?

And old people get stuck in their ways, have little understanding of the modern world, and base their decisions on beliefs they held 40 years ago. All age groups are ignorant to one extent or another, but a referendum should largely be aimed towards those it's likely to most affect, not those who are likely to be dead before all the effects kick in.

Correct. It has nothing to do with the (nonexistent) "belligerence" of the EU.

I doubt this is an unpopular opinion, but this isn’t a Brexit thread. Take it somewhere else FFS.

I think people that constantly go on about Brexit being good or bad have very small penises.

I wish that had worked in reverse. People who thought the 1975 vote to remain in the common market was a mistake should have fked off to Norway or Switzerland or another non member country, instead of staying here and bhing and whining about Europe for 41 effing years. ,

The Imperial system should finally be completely scrapped in favour of Metric - i.e. km not miles! - rather than lingering on for some things.

I don't think you're going to get too far with that one! Imperial seems to be coming back, if anything, amongst certain members of the younger generation. I don't know why, but would speculate that it is linked to a diet of American television on Netflix and similar. All that will be Imperial, so the kids gain a working knowledge of it.

The Metric die-hards I have met - the ones who insist on making statements such as 'I am 145 centimetres tall' or 'I weigh 65 kilogrammes', despite knowing that nobody else has a clue what they're on about - seem to be a bit older.
