I was alerted to the MX5 reading a mag in Norfolk as they’re doing a special limited edition in orange. Anyway I went on the Mazda website and configured a new motor - 2 lites with 27” wheels in dark grey = £22k. I went out to get something and bugger me if that exact spec car hadn’t just parked next to mine. Spooky.
27" wheels!!! That's huge no? Nice orange colour mind.

This is like the one we have bought.

Well we've made it home without further issues and have taken up residence in the garden playing some board games!!!

It's not going well, I'm afraid to report that I've been beaten 3-2 at Sequence and lost the first game of Bananagrams!!! frown

They seem really good value even new. I checked out alternatives yesterday which included Porsche Boxster and BMW Z4 - totally daft as they’re 2x+ the cost. The one in the car park looked great even discounting wheels 10” bigger than normal.

Imagine driving one today - 30 degrees here, whipping along with the wind in my hair and dandruff forming a con trail behind - great.

Hello all.
I am back from my brief sojourn in Brittany, had a great time despite the gods determination to ruin our holidays.

First off we stopped for some breakfast and a loo break somewhere near Newbury on the way down to Portsmouth and I found a text on my phone informing me that our crossing next morning was cancelled due to the high winds. This was a bit of a bugger as we had a hotel booked frown We managed to use the hotel for a quick shower as I had booked it on the cheapskate uncancellable rate as I was 100% sure we would need it. I managed to get on the overnight crossing (which mrs Gog and the Goglet were adamant they didnt want to do) unfortunately there were no cabins available so we had an uncomfortable night in the seats watching the waves breaking on the windows on deck 8!
Then on day 3 of our hols the Mrs got a lousy stomach bug and was out of order for 2 days and then my previously perfectly reliable Jag decided that stopping the engine and throwing a red engine systems fault light was exactly the right thing to do at 140kph when pulling out for an overtake on the autoroute. I spent the rest of the holiday trying to avoid using more than about 2/3 throttle or it would throw the red light and go into limp mode. Made it though and the Jag is being booked in for my mate the mechanic to read some error codes and see whats up

I once tried to sleep on those seats on a cross channel ferry to St Malo.
I can confirm they are uncomfortable although the sea was not as rough for us fortunately. Saw Jersey.....well the lighthouse for Jersey at about 3am.
Fortunately my old Mk2 Cavalier SRi 130 performed faultlessly.

I had an Astra SRi at that time, did an appalling handbrake turn and loads of revs on over grippy tarmac in front of the Le Mans pits and the clutch fell apart. We towed it off with a V12 XJS which then ran over a pile of campsite fire ash and some steel tyre reinforcement from a cremated tyre wrapped around the driveshafts and wrecked the diff seals.

Oh how we laughed.

When we all eventually sobered up back in the UK the tow truck bills for the two cars was eye watering.

Oh poop that does sound costly!!

Sorry to hear of your woes GOG, it doesn't make for a relaxing holiday that's for sure!!!

We're devouring our BBQ stuff, steak burgers, chilli dogs, minted lamb kebabs, maple pork chops and chicken tikka flatties with sweet potato fries and salad, lush!!!

Sweet potatoes fries = less calories by about two against chips = all out fat feast is totally acceptable with no net adverse effect

Madam Magoo is preparing garlic chicken sautéed with chorizo ,courgette and green beans from the garden. With a home made tomatoe sauce along with chippy spuds.
More rhubarb crumble later with white and red wine inbetween.

All cooked on our trusty outside cheap cooker. A warm evening it is.

Just beating our Cley hot smoked salmon and chorizo salad damn you. We may have the edge on desert as it’s home made Eton Mess, but it’ll be down to the wire and bribing the judges.

I scared the st out of my brother on the old coast road from St Malo to Cancale, part way along the road goes up the cliff and there is a left hand hairpin.
I did my usual trick, charged up to the hairpin and was taking a tight line as normal, before swining out to go round the hairpin and get good drive out of it.
See the coach come the other way with his left front overhang about 2 feet into our lane.
See my brother grab the door handle and audibly whimper.

Later on, see him call me a **** over evening meal and several beers before going back to the campsite hehe

No competition the Cley salmon is a winner.

Silly trivial things about Cley.
I cooked veggie soup on a Gaz burner in the old upturned boat in the mill car park.(circa 1971)

Madam Magoo's half sister ran the pub there for a long time.

In about 1984 I got caught in a freak storm walking on the footpath from Blakney to Cley whilst birdwatching. I sheltered behind a lonesome 3 foot high holly tree. I was ruined!

It's getting VERY tense at Bobbers mansions, it's tied with Mrs Bobbers winning the Sequence and me winning Bananagrams, it's currently 1-1 at crib, we have the brazier lit, a hurricane lamp lit and the kitchen light on!!!

All this talk of your lovely food is making me think about the left over BBQ grub in the fridge..........

Tomorrow I WILL NOT make the excuse of it being too hot to do anything and WILL get some spannering done.
It’s my therapy so today I’ve been like a coiled spring on the precipice of a short fused tightrope.

Well that all changed quickly!! We were playing crib when our neighbour's grandson appeared at our fence, he's a smashing lad of 20, he asked what we were playing so we explained and ended up with him jumping the fence and sat next to me learning the game, around 10PM our neighbour his grandad joined us and it ended up with the 4 of us playing pairs crib with me partnering Adam the grandson and us winning 2-1!!!! We've only just come in from the garden after a fantastic afternoon and evening!!!!

Morning all. It's nice when things happen like that Bobberoo.

We weren't long in the sleep out cabin! I managed to nod off but Mavis was Gruffing and snorting due to her being so close to the outside night sounds of the countryside.
Madam Magoo was having none of it so we retreated back to normal sleeping quarters.

It's not a bank holiday here so I hope you all enjoy yourselves.

I'm off out for an hour or so then I'm back to inspect a neighbours failing rendering!
