My main 3 , are

Apple products

The Beatles

The BBC.

I have others, as well (like most I imagine) , the forth would be London, like many things though, the reality of something is often nothing like the imagery of same.

I've just been listening to the remastered 'Let it Be' recording.

It's one thing to simply 'not like' The Beatles. That merely demonstrates a complete lack of musical taste.

But, to consider them 'overrated'?

Weapons-grade ignorance.

This isnt the first time in this thread you've picked up on mention of the Beatles. It obviously riles you somewhat, whereas the other hundreds of things mentioned less so.

I think they're overrated (no inverted commas needed). I don't like them either so I have no musical taste it seems!

But it's your thread so you can chose the rules biggrin

Thanks beer

Yes, it's the sheer incorrectness of saying they are 'overrated' that grates with me because the different level they were operating at (particularly later on) makes that ridiculous, frankly.

I play music for a living and do many of the same songs night after night, and I am still awestruck by many of the Beatles tunes I do, even after over 7,000 gigs.

Reminds me of a group of veteran session/stage musicians doing a Beatles songs tour in the Netherlands currently. Several songs were broadcasted on the telly recently and it was truly breathtaking, so good.
Monumental songs, cannot be overrated and an ongoing source of inspiration for a lot of people, musicians included.

Smart motorways are over rated? I haven't heard or seen positive comments about them by anyone who doesn't have a vested interest.

Never heard of them, probably not have most people. Suspect they won't share even 1000th the level of success, despite probably being 99% as good, which is why I think all successful musicians are over rated.

Imagine a world where everyone would get excited about and want to drive a 911 GT3 RS but they were struggling to get buyers for the 911 GT3 even priced at £20k , that is how I see the music industry.

Yes, them! I'm completely not their target audience but will definitely get tickets.

What you are missing here is the writing of the material is the genius part.

But the Beatles are rated for their creativity, not particularly their virtuosity. We don't say that the LSO is 99% as good as Beethoven because they can perform his music.

You can no more "over rate" the Beatles than exceed the speed of light. It can't be done.

Personally, I prefer Wings.

Flat roof pub, screaming kids everywhere, as much cheap meat and soggy veg as you can eat, who could want for more?
