I know a few couples who are now married after meeting on Tinder.

I don't know whether this is more the root cause of being single in your 30s, something which leads someone to online dating, or just something I am experiencing as the majority of my encounters are initiated online, but it seems people largely have some sort of personality defect rather than anything physical.

While needy rings alarm bells immediately, socially awkward makes me in turn uncomfortable, which is a shame because it's something that the other person could probably overcome.

Not had any new likes on Tinder or Bumble for a while now, neither working for me. But out of the blue three women I'd been chatting to on Bumble, who all went quiet a month or so ago, started up conversation again. I've arranged to meet one of them for a coffee next week. I'm being open minded, but she's already cancelled on me once, near enough friend zoned me at one point in our conversation, and we live 75 miles apart. On the plus side, she's 'only' five years older than me, seems fairly normal, and in good shape for her age.

When I was getting occasional likes on Tinder and Bumble, the common theme was that they're all older than me (and look it), and all at least an hour's drive away. Not sure why I don't get anyone closer than that coming up? All I can think is that they are only swiping right on me because I'm a 'safe' distance away!

I've also come across/joined a few singles groups on facebook. These seem quite promising - due to the group aspect of it, it's easy to jump into (and out of) the conversation, most of the members seem to be 30+ and friendly. Suspect there is quite a lot of 'damaged goods', but the beauty is that the nutters get weeded out pretty fast, and everyone seems to look out for each other. I did go to one group social a month ago, and that turned out to be a bit of a let down (to put it mildly), but another group has a Christmas party coming up, and it looks much more promising.

PROFILE, PROFILE, PROFILE!

No use saying they 'don't work for you', it's you that's not working. It's like saying newspaper ads are dead, they're not. They still work IF it's a good ad, in the right paper at the right time.

I've been off it all since about March. Kept Hinge open just to dip in now and again, but in the main the women are pretty drab, plus it's more work so I don't get very proactive. Got a like off a younger one last week, met on Saturday and I may have hit prime time. Not my usual type looks wise (you'd think she was a lesbian), and doesn't drink (which I always find a bit weird) but by all accounts is very 'liberal' (her own words).

I won't go any further or Lemming Train will be out with his broken bs detector hehe.

Judging by her past conquests i doubt the bar is that high.

He's happy, it should be celebrated. I met my ex on Match, she left me pregnant with another man's seed and now having twins. That should be celebrated too as I'm now free (her name was Sarah funnily enough).
