That would be good sport - must get myself one! If I can get someone to take the chauffeur position and casually step out the back in Belfast City centre.... biggrin

It was never advertised as a £30k prize, that was a throwaway comment after the draw had been made. Neither the advertising, nor the T+C's, made any comment as to the value of the vehicle. Aside from 1 computer generated image, which incorrectly used a mk3 instead of a mk2 car, the prize was clearly shown from the start. It would take a proper anorak to notice the differences between the mk2 and mk3 anyway, I suspect 90% of PH couldn't even tell you which was which if shown a photo of just 1 car, let alone the general population.

What really happened was the OP bragged to all his family and mates that he had won a £30k 2009 Cadillac. When he found out what he had won, in order to save face with his friends, and to try and get something of higher value he created this thread, contacted the ASA, and sent snotty, legal sounding, emails to Paddy Power while being roasted by 26 pages of posts who think he's a greedy bd who had time to google the exact make, model, and age of car Tiger Woods was driving, but not enough time to read 5 lines of T+C's for the competition he won.

Condi, some of that is right. Literally over 100 people either friends family and work are asking me when I'm getting my flashy motor. I'm not going to lie, I am embarrassed about that. I can handle that though, just a slightly bruised ego!

Ffs OP, quit while you're ahead. Despite coming across as fairly ungrateful for winning a free competition, on the face of it, and thanks to some PH sleuths it looks like you're getting something that is pretty decent if not a bit dated.

I've entered competition after competition at my own cost and won nothing. If I entered a free one and won a car I'd be chuffed regardless what turned up! The fact the Ts and C's clearly state what it's for would suggest that any email proclaiming rights is going nowhere. Just be grateful that no one has pointed Paddy in the direction of this thread yet!

Sell it to one of the Yank Tank lovers on here and enjoy a holiday.

In fairness about 99% of folk this side of the pond would think that a pretty flash and expensive car. Its only car bores like us that would realise it's a sub 10k motor, and who listens to what we say hehe

Sounds like a good result, enjoy the new car. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun smile

If the only time £30k was seen or mentioned was an off the cuff remark whilst the draw was being made, I can't see how you have a claim to 30 grand.

If the original advertisings said it then you can argue you only entered because it was worth that. You clearly can't do that here, you'd already entered.

if they used a pic of a slightly newer model then they should give you one of those. Given its presumably an error I think they should give you the one you have, and the cash difference to what a newer one could have been. Whats the difference value wise between yours and the cheapest one of the upgraded model?
I would say maybe £10k difference roughly.

Giving PP the benefit of the doubt, probably just internal comms a bit out of whack or something which is where the 30k came from. It is an unusual car after all so I can understand fully that side of the coin.

Cheers. My mood swing is back on the happy side and if I can figure out the insurance issue, fun times ahead. 6L engine is just ridiculous- doubles the CC of anything I've ever had and looking forward to hear what it sounds like smile

Thanks!

I had seen the middle one but not the others. It's a looong car. Multi Storey car parks are a no go area I think....

Autosh*te members occasionally run online raffles. 50 tickets at a nominal amount each (Tenner, say) - when all the tickets are sold the bonus ball from the next national lottery draw is the winner.

This has auction written all over it.

Soooo.... am I the only one wondering why the pic of the ‘niece’ depicts an attractive lady who looks somewhat surprised that someone is taking a pic of her from across the road while she is doing the bins??

A date with a model in a Cadillac - unless I have misread the whole thread.

OP has been sound throughout , bit of a tit regards the T+Cs and moreso with the compo threat but overall has taken the situation well whilst admitting his short comings . Hope the barge turns out to be half decent for him , look forward to pics tomorrow with ear pieces and shades being the order of the day .

Not quite the same though. Brewers don't send out free samples of their product to alcoholics who've not bought anything for a while.
True, but it is entirely possible to opt out/have your details removed from the system/change your email address to protect yourself (not too much hassle if it's a matter of life and death/gonna cause you and your family misery, is it?)
While it's true that betting companies don't really do enough to protect problem gamblers from themselves, those same people are often guilty of not doing everything they can to protect themselves, just like any other addict. The situation will never be perfect.

I'm going to hold my hand up and say I may have been wrong - that actually looks pretty cool. I like it.
I'm sure you can get some insurance sorted OP. Look harder.
