Best news all winter Pugs. Hopefully history repeats itself this time. It would me more welcomed for the farming community. The ground is going to need some proper drying!

Just heard that a hangar at North Weald collapsed in the high winds, crushing my old Yak-52 which had been up there for maintenance - looking like a write off.
Just metal at the end of the day, nobody hurt, but still gutting.
They’re not just metal, aircraft have soul Just metal at the end of the day, nobody hurt, but still gutting.
Used to see a lovely Yak at Popham when I was getting my licence, in fact we followed it out on my first ever flight

Drove over the Pennines last night from South Cheshire to Sheffield. Despite numerous weather warnings there were no floods, blocked roads, sandbags etc. Not a thing. We seem to have got away with it so far. It does flood around here, very rarely, but it's more of the flash flood type event rather than ground saturation related.Sophisticated Sarah said:

A lot of other aircraft would have been reduced to kindling. The 52 is the only aircraft I've flown in which one of the vital pre-flight checks involves vigorously and repeatedly smacking it about.

Currently on the western coast of the Highlands and the rain over the past few days has been unbelievable. It’s pretty much not stopped at all for hours upon hours. Even for here it’s unusually grim.
Pretty windy too, but not excessively so. Think the wind we had in Essex a week or two ago was worse than this.

I've compared photos of the Thames floods which I took in 2014 with observations yesterday. 2014 was a lot worse. I seem to remember that it was worse still in 2008, so despite some incredibly heavy rain we seem to have got off relatively lightly this time around - particularly when compared to the poor unfortunates in other parts of the UK who seem to be getting a month's worth on rain on an almost daily basis.

3rd weekend on the trot we are blown out down here in Pompey. Can’t get anything done outside. Getting seriously pissed off with this now.
I feel your pain.I've been trying to build a log store since Christmas.
It's been so wet and windy up here (NW Highlands) that I haven't been able to get a roof on.
Even one whole day'd do it!
