Back on topic, last weekend was not an officially-named bullst media weather incident but was, nonetheless, grim.

Interesting charts for a week's time, for the winter lovers. Will keep an eye out.

Long term, a settled March beckons - but absolutely no guarantee on that!

Lovely now, so much so that I mowed the grass earlier and SWMBO is still outside gardening.

My son lives in Toyama, Japan, supposedly the 4th snowiest major city in the world - this is the most they've had so far this year...

Normally by this time of year it's metres deep in the mountains

My boy lives in Japan too, he went to Takayama and Shirakawa-go over Christmas and New Year for the snow, but there wasn't any.

He's a teacher and has just reported that the schools are closing for a few weeks to try and keep Corona at bay for the Olympics.

Yup - this is what it's normally like in nearby Tateyama in Feb

Though there was one day with halfway decent snow on the slopes at Tateyama, though rain ensured it had mostly gone the next day frown

This weekend's weather has been named storm Jorge by the Spanish Met. Pronounced Hor-hay for those that don't know.

Rain in places that don't want it Friday. Wind on Sat.
I'm finding the naming of storms a bit ridiculous - we went from Ciara, to Denis and now Jorge.....what happened to the E,F,G,H named storms? To be honest, why are we taking any notice of what the Spanish met office say regards naming?

Isn't it named by whichever Met office is first affected ?

Blizzard conditions in Macclesfield have eased slightly, now it's just sleet. Snow up top, and more predicted.
