Two that are related.

The first is the All-Inclusive holiday. I'm what you might call an 'intrepid and enthusiastic' traveller and for years I had these pegged as 'Butlins with Sun'. Four years ago as a treat for my Daughter who'd graduated from Uni, we gave the kids a choice of where they wanted to go for a holiday and the picked this place in Crete (also on the basis that it would probably be the last holiday the kids would want to take with Mum and Dad!).

Absolutely loved it and done one each year since! And the kids still keep on coming as well!

And relaxing. Took precisely 48 years to realise that is was OK to lay motionless every now and then for most of the day other than to take a sip of cold beer.... you don't have to explore every museum, art gallery or gorge.

Never used to like bell pepper as a kid, love them as an adult and have them in curries, chilli, salads etc.

Never eater an oyster or lobster, but I wouldn't mind trying lobster.

Also offal. Everyone raves about it but having tried kidney ( tastes of piss) and liver (dry) years ago, I have no desire to do it again, but have seen lots of offal recipes which look really interesting and taste good with a proper cut of meat.
Kidney tastes of piss? And you know that how exactly? I normally stick to drinking beer, wine, or G&T laugh

Liver is dry? - nope, not if cooked properly, i.e. not overcooked till it's like leather.

Now tripe vomit

For me it’s marmalade.
Used to pass by it for the usual jams.
Then after 50 years on this earth I tried it.

Wowser!

Just don't come here telling us you've used Comic Sans (unless you run a playgroup or sell lemonade outside your house).

I've done AI holidays before but I've always been doing things on them (museum, countryside etc) couldn't bare the thought of lying around in the sun doing nothing. Did that just 2 weeks ago and....... fkin' loved it! Read loads of books and mags, ended up looking like a local. I was sooooo relaxed!

I've never understood people who dismiss stuff they've never tried, it's just weird.
I recently discovered lamb hearts and lamb neck fillets, mainly because they were on the knock down shelf and was pleasantly surprised how good they were, never even knew they existed before now.
I also recently discovered that chestnut mushrooms last many, many times longer than white ones. So have converted to them completely after many years of wondering how to make white ones either not dry up or go black and slimy within a week.

Pickled walnuts are the best thing ever... https://www.fortnumandmason.com/products/pick-waln... OP if you have just got into walnuts, try these.

Tequila is a lovely drink when not with salt and lemon in grotty student night club. The smell of it made me want to vomit till I tried some “nice” tequila in the US last year..

Black Pudding.

Can’t get past the concept, but I’m told once you’ve tried it, you’re hooked (much like Teslas apparently).
Yep. Black pudding for me. Always thought it was disgusting until I tried it. It is absolutely delicious and a damn sight cheaper than a Tesla. Haggis on the other hand was a disappointment.

Spain.

Went once about 20 years ago with the kids to Benidorm and absolutely hated it and always reused to consider it for a holiday.

Then about 3 years ago went to Andalucia for a week, loved it, and have since been on walking holidays, road trips city breaks, villa breaks. Missed out on a potential 17 years of great trips.
Until a 10 years ago we had never been on a Spanish holiday due to the reputation. Bit the bullet on a cheap deal and thought it was great. Been back quite a few times.

Cider (sort of)

Last day of school we had a big piss up which involved, larger, cider, snakebite, more cider and eventually projectile vomiting. Just the smell of cider brought back the memories of that night and it put me off for life. Thought I would try a cider a few xmases ago and don't drink anything else now on a night out. So a break of 30 years!
