Do you save anything for special occasions? Nice bottle of wine / champagne? The nice dinner set? Suit ? Car !! wink

If so why ? Isn’t life too short to worry and isn’t it better to get the most out of things, after all you work hard so why not enjoy it!

My wife saves tons of stuff for special occasions (err forever), so I can try to throw it out 15 years later.

A good house fire would increase the value of my house...

Life is far too short. Use and enjoy. The memories are better than the thing just sat there.

Not really no.

I fail to see the point in that.

Ten years ago l was given a 60 year old bottle of port. The cork is coming out next weekend on my 70th birthday, I've saved it long enough.

We dont, but the FIL is obsessed with us "saving our front room only for best". We have two reception rooms (one used as a TV room the other as a snug). We pretty much have to drag him in there if we want to sit and chat next to the wood stove.

Champagne.

The OH likes Veuve Clicquot and has been given a few bottles over the years for Xmas/Birthdays. She kept them on top of the fridge, for years.

We've actually got round to drinking them this year... all of them were 'off'.

What a waste! Don't keep champers haning around for too long. Drink it quick! drink

The wife does. She had a load of stuff (like stationary) that she saved from.when she was a kid "for best".

Our 5yr old daughter recently used it all in anger lol ... But it was over 20yrs old by this point!

Bonkers!

Not so much a thing but when we renovated our house we have now got a nice lounge and also a kitchen/lounge/diner.

The father in law must have said at least 40 times 'you want to save that lounge for best' or 'just save it for best'

wtf hehe its a fking normal lounge

Does best mean, funerals, weddings, births etc? really odd hehe and btw we didn't!

When my grandparents died my parents had to clear their house. They found loads of items still in wrappers that my parents had bought them as presents over the years. Slippers vests, boxes of chocolates. All these items were saved for best. My old man is turning into his father saving things for best my mother goes apest.

I going to save my last jar of pasta sauce bought back from Italy for eating on my birthday.

The little things mean a lot.

I'm of an age that I'm attending funerals far too often for my liking.

When it hits home - the number of things you "save for an event" changes dramatically.

My godparents gave me a set of silver cutlery which we only use on special occasions (when we need more than our standard stainless cutlery) because the knives can’t go in the dishwasher.

Other than that everything is used, though my best bike only comes out when it’s dry.

My wife hoards things, not so much saving for best as just keeping for the sake of it.
