How much is a watch service from Rolex these days? I think I might treat my LV Sub to a service just after an idea of price so I don't fall off my perch when I find my nearest AD and ask. I have an Air King too that has barely been worn put if prices aren't too steep I might get them both done.

TIA Shep

Last year a Sea Dweller service by Rolex was about £400 +VAT - expensive, but nowhere near what I thought it might be...

That's cheaper than I thought it might be. I was expecting £600+. I guess some models are potentially more expensive than others.

Wow. I thought the SD was about £700. Might get mine serviced then!

I know my 116520 Daytona will scare me when it needs it. Just as well I like it so much! And as far as I know independent specialists can’t acquire the parts from Rolex.

Any ideas as to cost?

1, Bend over

2, Brace yourself

3, Lube is extra

I've just dropped £1848 for a service & new bracelet on a 'T' series GMTII that I originally paid £1900 for back in '96!

It's currently running 6.73 (you can tell I'm a precision engineer hehe ) seconds a day slow so it's being sent back tomorrow to be put right, previously it has been good to a second a month.

I'll just up the insurance valuation by £2k

I bet the bracelet was a large chunk of that cost.

I enquired in WOS earlier in the year for a service for my Sub, they said circa £450 to £500

458.33 for a GMT-II as of March this year. Not unreasonable, until they go on to list all the bits they're replacing.

Wow that’s cheap! I serviced my pre ceramic Sub three years ago, that was £550 inc vat then. I spoke to them briefly about servicing my SD, and they mentioned the SD had to go back to Geneva for correct pressure testing. Things must have change over the last few years!

Incidentally, if you want an independent specialist, I can recommend William Rice in Hull. Rolex trained, has a Rolex account so access to genuine parts. He did a sympathetic mechanical service on my vintage 1680 Sub, in contrast to Rolex, who wanted to completely wreck its originality in the style of Trigger’s broom.

My quote for 1999 Datejust was £600 but then they wanted £1400 for a bracelet as well.

Had it done by Watchguy for £260 in the end.

yes

£875 plus the vat for the bracelet but that was for an Oysterlock instead of the standard fliplock.

The service was only(!) £450 but the case needed rebushing and they replaced the glass and bezel too so it's easy to run up a big bill very quickly.

I can't and won't complain though, I only take it off to wash up at the end of a shift or to shower so it has a very hard life. When I used to wear cheapo plastic Casio or swatches they would only last a year or so before they fell to pieces and I doubt you'll find a better example of 'man maths' anywhere on the internet hehe

Service for mine was £580 plus £55 for a new crown in May 2017.

You probably know this but Rolex apply a 2 year warranty following a service too

Thanks all for the various Daytona service costs. I’ll risk saying this: I’m quite surprised at how reasonable the basic cost of the service is!

Is case re-finishing polishing part of the service cost or extra? There is a few light marks on my bracelet that need polishing away, the case & glass is fine

My 16600 has a chunk missing from the crystal, a cracked lumed pearl, scratched bezel insert, a big scuff on a lug, scratched bracelet. Oh and It makes a grinding noise/vibration when the weight moves around. But it’s keeping perfect time laugh kinda don’t want to service it while it’s running so good!

Thankfully not as dear as AP or Patek. Usually around 400 to 700 pounds. Unless Rolex want to completely restore your watch to as new.

I paid about £450 for my Kermit to be done at Rolex that was just over a year ago but was in Germany

Last Dec I paid around £1000 for my DRSD to be done first time in 30 years so new crown crystal and so
even got a bag with all the parts they replaced but that was one of the AD's in Prague

Sound like your getting ripped off in the UK
