The bank of london and middle east (BLME) is on MSE as an option for investing money in for a decent rate.

Is it legit/safe?

It probably depends what you mean by investing with them. They look to be properly regulated, have been round for a bit over ten years and specialise in paying interest in a special way to pull the wool over god’s eyes, which seems very “a la mode” right now.

They’ll still likely happily invest your money in some properly stinky funds if you just give it to them to manage.

Friend of mine was a director there for some years until recently, i could ask him a specific question if you had any. He's a trustworthy fellow, if that counts for anything.

no, it's okay.

for some reason Natwest has blocked the transaction anyhow. premium bonds it is!

That's interesting - Nat West recently froze my account because I was trying to transfer money to a new payee. I think there are some new guys on the fraud prevention team and while I am pleased that they are "watching my back", I am less pleased that they choose to take such action without contacting me first. it could have been a time-critical transaction.
