Something weird has occurred recently.

When I try and upload pictures from my iPhone or iPad to PH it is really successful after always been successful for years.

If I click on the picture required from my library and select upload, most of the time a message pops up in the PH upload box, no picture to upload.

And yet it's uploaded this screenshot above.

I am not trying to upload high resolution pictures, in fact some of them are pictures that I have uploaded before.

Any idea what is going on? It is the same from both my phone and iPad. A friend says he is having the same problem from his phone as well. I can only assume it is a PH thing.

Appreciate any comments or fixes et cetera.

As an aside, here is an old picture of my daughter just after she passed her test and had already crashed her Nissen Micra on the first day. This is her stand in car. Considering she did so well at school, this picture is really worrying!

Now why did this load up and if I try to load up a picture of my 5.5 L engine, I can't!

As it is not isolated to just me I reckon it may be something to do with PH.

The fact that it will upload some photographs is strange.

Same symptoms if you try to upload an image which is >2MB.

I appreciate you say these images have been uploaded previously, but could be worth checking the file sizes, anyway ?

Always click the forum fit button- does this not work?

Normally if the image is too big it tells you in the box.

This time it just says there is not an image to upload.

Very strange.

I wonder if your iPhone / iPad is saving images as HEIC instead of JPG.

https://www.theverge.com/2017/9/19/16332192/apple-...

https://www.techjunkie.com/heic-to-jpeg-iphone/

I've just tested my phone with an HEIC image vs a JPG image and the HEIC would not upload and the JPG would.

If you can get them onto your computer, can you tell what image format they are in?

Last one I tried was jpeg, 3.30MB, know this is greater than forum requirements but presume that the fit to forum button made the reduction.

Tried both on laptop (windows 7 with google chrome)and android phone. No success with either except when selling car it accepted photos into ads no problem from phone.

Can post for sale items photos on gumtree without any problem usually from phone on which they have been taken

Why presume ?

Can you not reduce the image size to below 2MB and try again ?

There must be a problem as this error message has come up with several people now.

Maybe PH should investigate into this.

I don’t believe that’s what it means, I’ve always understood it means it scales the image to fit the forum once uploaded, not that you can upload pictures which are greater than the maximum file size limit.

I uploaded some the other day, less than 2mb was fine, 2.4mb gave the issue being reported.

So much time fussing over a button.

It would have taken far less effort to try uploading an image which was <2MB to determine whether you were dealing with image size or some other issue..

If you are using iphone (with the latest version) when you click on the photo to upload you'll see a message at the bottom telling you the size, if it's larger than 2MB then click on "choose image size" then choose "large" which will reduce it for you.

Blimey! Never noticed that and it works!

Strange thing that the message didn’t state that, just that there wasn’t an image there.

Maybe PH is more sensitive now?

I only spotted that myself a few weeks ago (had the same problem as you at the time) after downloading to IOS 13.

How do you do that in Android- no doubt SS2 will be along shortly to tell me

There seems little point - you clearly know the answers.
