Small pleasures.Things that please you more than they should
Discussion
A really decent cup of tea, and conversely, the way the first cold pint just slips down.
(At this time of year) - being able to drive on a dry road for once, even if it is covered in salt dust. And when you get home the tyre treads are all white compared to the sidewalls.
I agree with the diy tasks and having the right tools for the job, same as when doing something on the car and the tooling makes it a much shorter and easier job than otherwise - most satisfying
The cold side of the pillow

Just crimped my first ever RJ45. Extremely satisfying and has been the highlight of my evening.
So fiddly Going to bed knowing you have nothing you need to get up for and can justify spending hours watching YouTube before going to sleep.
Being tucked up in bed when it’s stormy outside and knowing all the cats are in and also safely tucked up.
The noise of a distant lawnmower in the middle of summer, ditto the smell of a barbecue even if it isn’t yours.
Leaving work on the last day before going on leave (particularly at Christmas).
Spending every last penny of your subsistence allowance when away with work , and also checking into your hotel room after a long day travelling/in meetings.
Locking the bathroom door before your evening poo and shower, knowing that you are alone and aren’t going to be disturbed.
The smell of ground coffee, the noise it makes as it drips into the cup when using an aeropress and how easy said device is to clean.
Walking into work, checking the team calendar and seeing that most people are out and it’s going to be a quiet day.
When a st meeting gets cancelled.
When an email comes round, subject: cakes
Getting home after a long day and seeing my lad’s face light up, him shouting DADDY and coming running over for a hug
Remembering that you bought a chocolate bar the other day and left it in your bag for your future self to enjoy during a particularly st day.
Meeting up with your best mate from school who just so happens to work in the same place and going for a walk around site. Try to do this most days if we can, he’s off travelling and probably not coming back to this place in November
The day every month when I meet up with more friends from school and we all go to an incredibly council eatery. Don’t know what it is, but nothing could make one of these days bad. I even enjoy fighting through the traffic to pick 2 of them up from work.
Simple pleasures like these are, imo, the best kind. It’s the novelty factor I think.
